Mrs. Katsuyo Takagi and Mrs. Motoko Inouye of Tokyo, who graduated from Toyo Eiwa Gakuin; a •school for, girls started in 1884 by missionaries of the Methodist Church of Canada - now the United church of Canada arrived in Clinton to visit Miss Courdce, a former. teacher. e Chappell of TOronto Mrs. tea -of Cam- Hensall; Mary'Ellen Gouer of Saltford; Helen Elliott of Dublin; and Alice McNair, Dorothy O'Conaell, Ray Armstrong, Mrs. Harold Frernlin, and Mrs. Flossie Welsh. to detail; newborno enhanced by pleasing landscaping and furnished. with originality and good taste .and ocessional in- teresting use of artifacts of long • ago; a home built in the early 1900's, recently redecorated, where every room gave a feeling of restful harmonizing beauty. The spacious entrance to this home was especially pleasing with neat landscaping and colourful window box on an upstairs window. Several miles wester Clinton, they =me upon another more than a century -old home where the owners have concentrated on enhancing and developing the natural environment and after restoring the original small home of two rooms have fashioned one for themselves, artistically nestled against the charmingly landscaped hillside. The interior of this home gave. one a feeling of Spanish influence. served in a lovely arden Music and singing kora Mary Hearne and daughter Nancy in a natural am- phitheatre was much enjoyed and appreciated. And just before boarding the bus, an ice- cream bar to revive us for the homewardjoumey. All in all it was a delightful experience and proof of the fact that we don't have to journey far to see a wealth of artistic beauty. It should be an in- spiration to us all to see the potential in what we have and then summon the courage and energy to !develop it. The maple leaf had been chosen as • an emblem of 1 Toyo Katsuyo Gakuin because of ,the school's Canadian - Japanese connection.
