Everything from peasant dresses to short shorts will be worn by brides this season, much to the demise of most of their mothers, Bridal clothing designers, realizing that the girls of this new decade are not content to let "mama" select the wedding dress, have de- signed boutique lines specifically to cater to the independent bride. * * * NOT THAT mothers are wrong . they often- times aren't, but the designers have recently iearried to cater to the bride rather than the bride's mother. The boutique lines from several well-known collections are generally lower in price than the standard designs, but they are also more fashionable. Some say that wedding. dresses never go - out of style: But because one wears it only once, ,that would seem to be an -all- r.ight situation: Colors have become an' irnpo'rtant look in the bridal gown industry. The palest pinks, lavenders and yellows are popular colors which rieep out from behind layers of organza. Embroidered fabrics have become popular, but • •• mainly in bridesmaids' dresses. THE MOST popular headpiece for spring and Summer appears to be the kerchief tied beneath • the chin in a beguiling and romantic manner. Real flower headdresses are regaining their popularity also. With the peasant or ethnic influence a strong one.in theTashion industry, it stands to reason that it has penetrated the bridal fashion busi- ness also. The weskits, tiers and pinafores for brides are all a part of that movement. Also, cotton ma- terials such as sheer voile and eyelet laces have been used in gowns in most of the major bridal lines.
