AGg CPNTQ NEWS-4AU+ QITHURSDAY, JAIsIVARY 1Q;, 975 ,aq a pR The Clinton and District Snowmobile Club have ap- proximately i5 active members, who will, after this week's snowfall, probably become re- ',ag1tivated. Under the guidanee of its president, Bull Chowen, of RR 3, Clanton, the club is careful to ' respect the property and rights* of all concerned. Plans have been formulated for a run this coming Sunday afternoon as detailed in a notice on the coming events page. +++ • 1hile' celebrating New Year's eve at the Clinton Canadian' Legion party, Mrs. Helen Bisback received a long distance call from Archie and Retta Robinson of Albert Street, who had phoned from Bradenton, Florida to wish their good friends the Bisbacks, a happy New Year. +++ Between nine and ten last Sunday evening, as those who were watching televisioi will lknow, our home town was placed on the map for all of Canada to see. The Theatre Passe Muraille in their TV adap- tation of the now famous Farm Show, provided the rest of Canada with a fine insight into the Huron County spirit 'as depicted in the lives of our local farming community. + + About four years ago, at this time, we published a picture of a tame robin sitting on Mr. Hal Hartley's shoulder while that gen- tleman was engaged in the shaving process. We heard the other day that this adopted feathered friend, named "Robbie", is still very much a part of the Hartley household. While spending a good part of his time in his cage he does enjoy periods of freedom within the house - and one of , his favourite spots is basking inthe sunshine on a window sill. Robbie's taste, like his , life, is no longer wild. Bird seed might be the fare of his brethren on the outside, but for this refined robin .his is the gourmet's diet featuring ground beef - medium rare and cooked single kernels of corn. Here's wishing him many more years of "Hartley hospitality". • • +++ The card party sponsored by the Rebekahs and Odd - fellows in the Lodge Hall on January 9 last was well attended. All are looking forward to another card party January 23rd. + + + :- The shocking state • sof Canada's unpreparedness for the Olympic games in Montreal was revealed to the nation this past week. Whether through apathy, labour problems or what- soever, surely the lesson to .be learned is that the nation is greater than the in- dividual, that all concerned should forget personal demands and collectively work together to • save Canada's face before the world. How true that the "chain is indeed only as • strong as its weakest link". This one for all spirit is required not only for the Olympics but also right here for the Clinton centennial, which thanks, ,.to those already involved is going full steam ahead.
