annual btistness meeting of
Huron Presbyterial W.M.S. of the
Presbyterian Church in Canada was
held in Clinton Presbyterian church
on Tuesday, January 14th, with morn-
ing and afternoon;,session&
The attendance Was not quite .so
large as usual, awing to road con-
ditions, but there was a good represent-
ation from Q iutcr t. Exeter, Goderich,'
H salt and Seaforth.
.Thio president, Mrs. W. J. Thompson
Qf ..Seaforth, welcomed the delegates,
and took part _iii the devotional period
with Mrs. R. Scott of Seaforth.
Mrs. Thompson gave- a fine New
Year's uressage,. emphasizing the bless-
ings God has given, 'and- urging that
every member of the. Society should
heed the call to go -forward.
Reports of the year's work were pre-
sented by the departmental secretaries
and were mostencouraging.
The life membership, secretary, Mrs.
-0:. Walker of Hensall,- reported --that
15- ..life-nlembersliills, 2,5.. seals,. two hon-
orary menhbership certificates and one
"In Memoriaiu" had. been presented,
making a total contribution UT $725, the
highest for many years.
The supply secretary, 'hiss ' M. E.
Brown of Ureter,- reported that $140

secretary, two layettes had been sent
to Rev: Mr. Fesenko to be included
in a bale for .the Ukraine, and a bale
of quilts, children's clothing and Christ-
mas gifts had been sent to Mr. J. Y.
Garrett, ossburn, , Manitoba, . for the,
Indian Reserve. Letters were read'
from Mr. Fesenko and Mr. Garrett, ex-
pressing their of preciation of the fine
contribution- Made by, the W.M.S. • _
Missionary Libraries
- Mrs. 'q. Bisset of Goderich, literature
andlibrary secretary, reported that
$52.69 had been received for literature
and supplies. Five auixiliaries had
missionary:libraries, a d it was urged

postage.
Mrs. C. Hudson, ,welcome and welfare
secretary, reported a -splendid year
In_this department NewenmerS had -
been welcomed, calls made to welcome
war brides, a 'number of -removals were
reported, and 1,542 calls Wade on sick
and shut-in members, an increase of
458 calls on last year.
The Mission Band secretary, Mrs. D.
J. Lame of Clinton, reported fine work
done by capable leaders of the five
Mission Bands, with Seaforth the ban-
ner Mission Band in membership. and.
givings. A successful rally was held
in the fall at Goderich, when the Mac-
Gillivray Mission Band celebrated its
sixtieth anniversary, and tribute was
paid to Miss E: -Wiggins for. ller`iiiany
years of faithful service.
Mrs.' Lane stated , that children's
books and 'Sunday school papers in
good condition may be collected by
Mission Band members to send to
British Guiana.
Work for Girls •
The report of the girls' work secre-
tary, Mrs. H. ;:livers of Goderich, had
many interesting -items. There are
three, groups in- Goderich, ,with 35 mem-
bers, and one group in Seaforth with
twelve 'members. ThelY activities in-
cluded . presenting a one -act play, a
Christmas pageant, assisting with
church music and junior congregation;
a girls' rally with Miss B. MacMurchy
its -guest speaker, completing a layette,
having a bazaar and afternoon tea,
entertaining their mothers; using the
study book, having au occasional party,
and malting a totals contribution of
$58.:5 to the Society. •
Miss L. M. Jeckell of Exeter, home
helper secretary,- gave a tine report.
There are 175 home helpers, with con-
tributions of $13.11. Six lhavet,become-
active members, 34 . are subscribers -to
Glad Tidings, and 400 calls were made
during _the' year.. Miss Jeckell stated
that •there is a wide field in every
church where • V.M.M.. members May
find new home helpers.- it everyone
would help.
The report of the Glad Tidings secre-
tary,. Mrs. 1?. Ross of Auburn. showed
a total. of 8.02' subscriptions fur ,194(1,
aih increatie of five over the previous
'year, and the hope was expressed that
the increase would - be continued.
The press secretary, Mrs.- A. Taylor
of Goderich, reported that more items

at the commencement exercises of
Central School, held on Tuesday even-
ing, January 14th, In connection with-
the meeting of the ,Centrol Home and
School ,Association.
,The business of the Association in-
cludedthe presentation of 'the treas-
urer's report, which showed "a balance
on hand of $146.40. Central's share of
the receipts of the Christmas carol
service held in Knox church was $46.87,
which - is to be contributed to the
"Save the Children" fund. •
Notes of appreeiation were read from
Miss Sharman and Mrs, MacDougall
for Christmas remembrances and' from
Miss Saults and Mrs. McCabe for
sympathy cards sent to them.
A three-year-old French girl, Marlene
Rimbert, and a twelve -yeas -old Italian
boy, Giuseppe Cavaliere, the two child-
ren adopted by the Associatjeii through
the "Save the Children",fund, 'arc each
to receive a box of clothing and treats_
similar to- the one that was sent thein
for Christmas.
In accordance with a request from
radio station CKNX, 111ss 3,iary Howell
was appointed to act as the Associ-
ation's representative on their educa-
tional committee. - ,
Miss Cleaver gave an informative -ad-
dress -ou "First Aid in the Home."
She urged a New Year resoluti6ti for
everyone, namely, "Keep accidents out
of the home." Statistics,, she. said,
show that every thirty minutes someone
dies from an accident in •the -home,
not to mention the temporary or per-
manent injuries cdused.
