With an attendance of 400 people,
a full program of keenly coiY'tested
games for excellent prizes, and ideal
weather, the picnic held ori Friday
in Jowett's Grove, ]Bayfield, by the
Garage Operators' Association of Huron
`county, was the most enjoyable yet'
given. Employees with their calves and -
families from every part of Huron' were
present. ,
It required three and a -half hours
to run off the sports events. Prizes
amounting to a total vhi.ie of :200
were donated by the following com-

Mr. John Elliott of London. a well-
known nonegeuarian lliiron olsi boy, is

for new court house in Goderich.
According to his information, the
first steps towards the building of the
o1(1 structure were taken in 1854 and
it was formally opened hi '1856.
Hence 1855 would be' the building
year, and as Mr. Elliott came into the;
world out in • Colborne .township in
July, 1855, he counts that he and the
lane- old court house-.tre- orf the --same
age and he wonders which of the two
will be dismantled first. For eighty
years or so he has every year 'seen
the old building and he hopes for' an-
other look or two before it disappears:

An interesting meeting of the W.M.S.
of Knox Presbyterian church was held
at the home of•11rs. W. H. Kretsinger,
"The Castle," on Tuesday afternoon.
Bright grate fires and flowers in the
spacious rooms and the air of friendly
hospitality contributed towards making
the meeting a most enjoyable one.
Though the weather was inclement,
