The remit of the reference is that Mr.
Mowat's tllaims are . disallowed. In
view of such it result, what must those
honest but simple minded people who
followed him in his harmful agitation
think of liim non? It will take
many years of wise and prudent ad
miltistration to allay the feeling rotls-
od iu Quebec against Ontario by his
slujtist and hitter denunciations of the
French-Canadians ill the name of
Ontario.
As to the final result of the investi-
gation now going on, the Couserva•
Give party have no feelings as a party.
The Privy council have .,decided that
the boundaries of Ontario musette fix -
by the line marking the possessions
of the Hudson Bay Company. Should
this give Ontntlo more territory than
the award now declared. to be illegal
grave to us, it will be acceptable.
Should we receive less we will know
that even then the province has re-
ceived fair play. If Mr. 11Zowat had
been less of a demagogue, and more
of a patriot, he might have continued
to recline the respect of the people. ,

The British Grail* Tracie. 88 .
Lonox, July 23.—Tho Mark Lane Ex
press, in its weekly review of The British
grain trade, says : The weather for the
past week was showery and the temperature'
lower, though there was much sunshine.
The earlylwheats are considerably, storm -beat-
en. Late wheats, though thin crop wore be-
nefitted by rain. The crop appears to be eq-
ual to the average. The sales of English
wheat for the past week were 31,020 quarters
at 37s. 1d.; against 29,024guarters at 4t78. 2d,
for the eorrosponing week of last year. The
forei3n trade is decidedly weaker. Off coast
trade was inanimate. There was it fairibusi-
ness. Valves remain unchanged. There
werenineteen arrivals, fourteen bales, nine
eargoes'withdrawir, and thirteen remained.
Twelve cargoes are now due. Flour is quiet
maize steadier, barley firm and quiet, and
oats dull.

KING of ALL WASHERS
(Patented in Canada, July 18,1865.)
Mr. O. Rau wishes to inform the inhabi
tants of Exeter and vicinity, that he has solo
right of this washer for Huron County, and
also that he has appointed 11Ir, Bolsi. Pickard
agent for Exeter, and any person wishing to
see the Machine, will please call at the Exeter
Tea Store. It was thoroughly tested, and its
merits approved before the patent was ap-
plied tor. It has since been placed in com-
petition with a great many washer s of note,
and in every instance proved its superiority.
It is, without a doubt, the moat perfect in
action ever invented ; the improvements are
prominent and well, defined ; they are not
imitations with a slight change of parts of
some old played out patents, such as the
public are often fleeced with by Patent Right
sharks, but they compose an original and
genuine invention, containing distinctive
features, which are fully set forth and claim-
ed in a legal patent that will keep infringers
at a distance. •
Few Reasons why. the 'Invincible' is lest
lst. Only ono -quarter the amount of soap
used as with other machines. '
2nd.' Only one-fourth the fuel.
3rd, No labs: in comparison with th
machines.
4th. No wear and teas, as steam and soap
are the prireipal agents.
5th. It requires only one-fourth the time
to do a washing.
Gth. The hoose is not in an uproar with
slops,, washtubs, pots and pans, at least one
day out of each week
