The grade 11 Children's theatre class of South Huron --

Drll' Santa...
I know that you are very busy
up there at the North Pole, as
Christmas is only fifteen days
away. I'll keep my letter short and
simple.
Christmas Eve could you please
bring me a robot, a set of dinky
cars and a new outfit to wear. Also
could you please bring me some
stocking stuffers.
I'll leave out a snack of milk and
cookies for you to enjoy. I'll also
remember to leave out something for the reindeer to
snack on before your long flight home again.
I'd like to wish my Grandpa and Grandma Stanley,
Grandpa and Grandma Payne, all my aunts, uncles,
cousins and friends a "merry Christmas and a happy
new year."

Tips for a hassle -free holiday
The holidays are right around the corner and it's time to get in that
yule -tide frame of mind. Getting your home and yourself ready for all
the fun is definitely step one. Remember, this year can be the best ever
if you're prepared for all the surprises that the holidays bring. To help
make this season more enjoyable and stress -free, follow these three
easy steps - and stay close to the mistletoe!
to Make our home warm and cozy. With friends, relatives and unex-
pected visitors stopping by, your house or apartment should be both
welcoming and festive. To make your environment "scent-sational"
and your state of mind more relaxed, put a few cinnamon sticks in a
pan of cider and simmer on the stove - the delicious aroma will fill
your home. Give your bathroom a holiday ambience with pretty bowls
of potpourri and matching candles. And don't stop at the inside of your
home - fragrant holiday wreaths with aromatic berries and dried flow-
ers will welcome your guests before they even step inside.
to Attitude is everything. With holiday parties filling your calendar,
you naturally want to look and feel your best. The "heat" is on, with 4
fuzzy mohair sweat -dresses and crushed velvet jumpers - they're all
the rage this year! Don't get overheated from all, the excitement in
these winter fabrics. Stay cool and dry with an edge of self-assurance
which is the key to merry mingling. Remember, don't stand by the
eggnog waiting for someone to approach you - introduce yourself to
unknown guests and smile, smile, smile! Your strong self-esteem will
li ht up the room.
Food for thought. Even when you make your list and check it
twice, you'll inevitably have a few unexpected visitors stopping by to
wish you good tidings. There's nothing more stressful than an unantic-
ipated hungry guest. The trick is to be prepared. Stock up on beverages
and snack foods that won't spoil, such as pretzels, chips and dried
fruits. Prepare freezable holiday cookies and hors d'oeuvres, like mini -
quiches and French bread pizzas, ahead of time. When guests arrive,
pop them in the oven for a few minutes, serve - and you'll be every-
one's favorite holiday hostess.
to And to reciprocate for those "surprise" gifts that arrive on your
doorstep, keep a secret stash of holiday tins filled with cookies and
candy, and make sure they're wrapped elegantly with a festive red
bow. People will never know they weren't on your original holiday
list.
Ito Although the holidays can be,fr+tnetic, they should be an enjoya-
ble time with loving friends and family. Make the most of this special
time by planning ahead and following these three easy tips. Have a
sensational holiday season!

Giant Christmas tree dessert.
is great holiday fun for the kids
'Tis the season for festive red,
green and gold desserts. Here's a
great idea, particularly for moms
looking for a merry dessert to
serve at kids' holiday parties. Easy
to make and a fun recipe for kids
to decorate, a Giant Jigglers Tree
is a delicious treat made from Jell -
0 lime flavour gelatin and decorat-
ed with colored sugar, assorted
candies and whipped topping.
For even more holiday fun,
make up some extra pans of Jell-O
and let the children create individ-
ual holiday Jigglers. There's no
doubt that the little elves will have
jolly fun preparing their own
snacks using cookie cutters, in the
shapes of snowmen, trees, bells,
candy canes or reindeer.

Helpful hints
- under wraps
• Wrap a silk scarf or handker-
chief or a hard -to -pack small gift
in parchment paper bought at an
art supply store. Roll the present in
the parchment and tie it around the
middle with a thin red or gold
cord. Use sealing wax to seal the
package.
• Stores that sell wallpaper usu-
ally have remnants or old sample
books that you can buy. Wallpaper
patterns can be beautiful and unu-
sual, often with embossed or
flocked designs.
• Instead of spending money for
a box that will only be discarded,
buy a flowered underbeds storage
box. Storage boxes are inexpen-
sive and easy to assemble; they
will definitely be used long after
the holidays are over. You can do
the same with a hat box.
• Use the empty cardboard rolls
from toilet tissue or paper towels
to roll small stocking-stuffer gifts
"for a child. Cover the cardboard
with foil paper, then wrap another
piece of foil around it. Pinch the
ends and tie at each end.
