First I'll tell you my name. My name is Nichole Davidson. I live in Ailsa Craig, Ontario. Now you know about me. I'll tell you what happened to Santa. It all happened on a cold, dark, snowy Christmas night. I was lis- tening to the weather report. I heard that there was a hurricane in the Florida area. I thought, "Oh no, Santa will not be coming!" Thinking about Santa, I missed the part when they said something like this: "Due to the hurricane, Santa got stuck here in Florida." I thought about all those little children. Like my brother and sis- ter. All of them will be very unhap- py. And I thought, well, why can't I fill in for him? Santa has a big bel- ly, a red suit, a white beard. Well 1 just heard that Santa is up and goi ng...Crash 111 r r What was that? I ran to my window. Santa. Uoh. "Mom!" "What?" "Come here". "Coming". "Look," I said. I'm not going to leave him out there all alone. I saw why he crashed. There was a terrible bliz- zard going on. I told him to come inside. So he did. Then mom asked if he would like a cup of coffee. He said I've got to go. "I heard that Santa got in a bad accident. Santa is in the hospital. I went to visit him. He asked if I would like to go back with him to the North Pole. I said yes. so I went with him. I became his daughter and #1 elf. I go with him every Christmas to see my real mom and dad. All I Want for Christmas Is a Real Christmas Tree By Charlotte Asselman Biddulph School, Grade 5/6 It was a dark and gloomy day. The streets were lonely and desert- ed. The clouds were as gray as Scrooge's heart. If you were cheer- ful and bright in the morning, your attitude would soon change. "Dear, please come away from the win- dow and join us for breakfast," said Mrs. Cooper. "Awe, Mom! I'm waiting for the sun to come out," explained Lynn. The Cooper family was usually a happy family, but this unhappy day had crept up on them without warn- ing. Mrs. Cooper kept playing their Christmas records over and over, trying to bring a little cheer into the house but Lynn seemed to be get- ting bored and Aaron, well, he didn't show enthusiasm at all. Even Mrs. Cooper tired of it, gradually. She switched it off. "Mom, why isn't sis coming to breakfast? I had to!" complained Aaron. Aaron was thirteen. He had blond hair and blue eyes. He wore faded blue jeans and a big "Boston Bruins" sweatshirt. Mrs. Cooper sighed and said, "Lynn, go eat your breakfast. Dad will be home soon." Lynn sighed, took one last look out the window and slowly trudged over for breakfast. Just then Mr. Cooper came in. "Merry Christmas and a happy new year!" he exclaimed, all jolly -like. "Where are my favourite kids?" he asked playfully. "Two things: first, where's the Christmas tree, and second, your kids are over here," Aaron replied lazily, but Mr. Coop- er wasn't going to let Aaron's atti- tude spoil his day. "Well, the prices on the lot are much too, much too high. We're going to have to get a fake one," answered Mr. Cooper woefully. "No! Come on Dad!•All I want for Christmas is a real Christ- mas tree!" yelled Lynn and with that, she stored off. Mrs. and Mr. Cooper exchanged nervous glances. Mrs. Cooper wasn't about to accept an artificial tree either! At night, Aaron thought about the tree. Dad was going to buy a fake one, but they'd know the differ- ence. Then, Aaron had an idea. The next morning, Aaron and Lynn quickly finished their break- fast. Mr. Cooper came out from the hallway sleepily. So sleepily, he seemed to be in a trance, but when he saw that Lynn and Aaron were all bundles up, his eyes practically popped out of his head! "Halt!!" he yelled. Lynn and Aaron stopped dead in their tracks. They turned around ' simultaneously. "Explain yourselves," said Mr. Cooper stern- ly. "Well, um..." Aaron began. "I need some fresh air," said Lynn and she turned around and ran out the door, dragging Aaron behind her. When they got to the forest, Aaron let out a huge sigh of relief. "Boy, Sis! 1 thought he had us nailed! Do you have the decora- tions?" "Yup!" replied Lynn. They got to work. When they were done, they snuck back into the house. That night was Christmas Eve. Mrs. Cooper was all depressed be- cause they had no tree. "Let's go carolling;suggested Lynn. Every- one agreed. "Let's take the short- cut through the woods, OK?" asked n. "All right," said everyone in uni In a co plc of minutes into the forest, Mr. Cooper and Mrs. Coop- er stopped. They starred and starred for in front of them was a beautiful Christmas tree. All decorated with li hts and decorations of all kinds. " '- -yyou?" stammered Mrs, Coop- er. "Yup!" said Aaron and Lynn in unison. "Well, this 1* no doubt the bat Christmas tree in the whole world!" announced Mr. Cooper. Santa's New Reindeer By Sasha Strong, Brittany Grant Lucan Public School Once upon a time, a long time ago, Santa lived. He lived in a toy castle. The elves helped Santa make a lot of toys. When Santa was ready he noticed he was missing two reindeer. He looked in the stable and found out he had a baby reindeer. Next Christmas he will be able to fly. When next year came Santa noticed that the reindeer had a red nose. It glowed. "He can fly," said Santa. "Yeah," said the elves. That night he delivered all the toys.
