Jennifer's Christmas
Wish
By Pam Estep
Zurich P.S., Grade 8
Once upon a time there was a girl
named Jennifer Taylor. She became
an orphan after her parents died in
a terrible car crash the Christmas
before. Jennifer was a very sad
child, but she had a kind heart. A
week before Christmas the or-
phan's mother took all the children
to the mall so they could tell Santa
what they wanted for Christmas. It
was Jennifer's turn to sit on Santa's
knee. She was the only one not to
ask for toys. She asked for some-
thing different. She asked for some
parents. On Christmas day some
people came and they saw Jennifer
opening the presents and they knew
she was the one to adopt. So, they
did! They adopted her the next day.
Christmas
By Dean O'Brien
St. Boniface School, Grade 5
It was very exciting when we got
to the rest home for Christmas. The
first thing we did was the inter-
view. I learned that Ruby ate turkey
for Christmas supper when she was
young. i started a Gods Eye for her,
but she dozed off. 1 started to laugh
and she woke up and said, "What
are you laughing for?" I said, "You
dozed off for a moment." She start-
ed to laugh too. When we started to
make our paper chain, she helped
make the circles. Then I took her
back to her room. She said, "When
are you coming again?" 1 said,
"Not till January." She wanted me
,to come sooner. She gave me a
cookie and I said good bye. All the
things we did together made this a
special visit.

A Great Hero
By Lindsay Benner
Biddulph Central School, Age 10
Once there was a family. The
dad's name was Tom Jones. The
mom's name was Lucie Jones and
their three children Zack, John,
Ashley. A couple of months passed
and their children got bilgger. It was
time for Christmas. Lucre and Tom
were asking what their children
wanted. "1 would like some books,
I want some clothes, 1 want some
Lego." There was going to be a pa-
rade and the family had entered a
float. The week before Christmas
was when the parade was to be
held. The theme for the float was
"Christmas in Other Countries".
The family was walking home
when they met Mr. Crab (a friend).
"How are you today Mr. Crab?"
"I'm finc but Mrs. Crab is very ill.
The doctors think she might die,"
said Mr. Crab. "We're very sorry to
hear that. We hope she gets better,"
said Tom, as his wife and children
bowed their heads. That night Lu-
cie suggested that they go carolling.
"Great idea," said Ashley. "Let's
all get dressed and go." They kept
singing and singing and soon the
whole town was singing. As they
got to Mr. Crab's house the notes Meggie and Sarah were playing
sang out as they sang. The sky in the snow having lots of fun,
seem to brighten up then all of a Maggie was short for her age and

The Snowy
Christmas
By Jennifer Devlaeminck
Grade 6, Mt. Carmel
It was a bright sunny morning,
and the binds were chirping, the
dogs were barking. Emily got out
of her bed and looked outside.
"It's bright as ever," Emily said.
It was Christmas! So Emily ran
down the stairs jumping off of the
last two stairs. Emily looked under
the tree and ran back up the stairs
to wake up her mom and dad. Her
mom and dad came down the stairs
and watched Emily open all of her
presents. When Emily was done
ripping off the paper and cleaning
up her mess she walked over to her
parents and gave them a big hug.
"Thanks for everything", Emily
said. "You're welcome," her par-
ents said. "Next year," said Emily,
"I'm going to get you a present
too". "Time to go to church" OK
mom!"

By Laura Clarke
Lucan Public School, Grade 2
Dear Santa:
How are you? I am fine. We
moved to Lucan in July. How is
Mrs. Claus and the other reindeer?
We are having a Christmas concert.
The whole school is in one play. it
is called Boo -Bear. The kids in. my
class are the elves. My favouritb
subjects are music, and art. 1 am
riding in the Santa Claus parade for
Lucan. Are the elves ready for
Christmas Eve! What foods do you
like to snack on at people's houses?
Me and my brother Ryan went to
sec the Santa Claus with my Aunt
Mary. We arc coming to see you at
the mall. We got a new artificial
Christmas tree. it is seven feet tall.
My mom had three layers of
branches on and had to start all
over again because she did it
wrong. I would like these two
things: Licking Lizards; a new pair
of roller blades.
Your friend,
Laura Clarke.

Excitement
at McGillivray
From Mrs. Russell's and Mrs.
Gratton's lasses
The grade four and five classes
have been busily working on a va-
riety of activities during the last
few weeks at McGillivray Central
School.
We have been studying dragon
literature. Mt; Russell's class ex-
amined the roles of knights and the
structures of castles in medieval
times, while Mrs. Oration's class
compared Asian and European
dragons.
Along with the grade six class we
have been working hard to get
ready for the Christmas concert on
December 19. We are performing a
musical called "Christmas on An-
gel Street", of honesty and the true
meaning of Christmas
On Friday, December 9 we held
a bake sale to raise some money
for the bus ride to London on De-
cember 20 to see "The Secret Gar-
den" at the Grand Theatre. We are
looking forward to both perfor-
mances.
