Animals Christmas!
By Jessica Lane,
Alyssa Beach -Wallis
Lucan Public School
This story is about how animals
celebrate Christmas.
This is how the chipmunks cele-
brate Christmas. First they Lind a
pinetree, then berries and nuts to
decorate it. This is how wolves cel-
ebrate Christmas. First they Lind a
pine tree, then they hang branches.
This is how the animals all togeth-
er. They gather up berries, nuts,
leaves and branches. Then on
Christmas eve they celebrate! Fi-
nally it's Christmas day, they say
something about Christmas. Here it
goes:
C is for Christ.
H is for Holly.
R is for Reindeer.
1 is for icicles.
S is for stocking.
T is for Tree.
M is for milk and cookies.
A is for Raggedy Anne.
S is for Star.
D is for deer.
A is for Angel.
Y is for yummy cookies.
The End
A Lonely Christmas
By Lindsay Haberer
Zurich P.S., Grade 7
"Jake, please come downstairs!"
yelled his mom. Jake ran down-
stairs with his sandy blond hair fly-
ing.
"Your father and I are going to a
party. We will be home at mid-
night. Mary Jane will make your
supper. Oh, your father and I will
be gone on a trip until Tuesday.
Bye-bye sweetheart! I love you!"
"But mom, Sunday is Christmas!
I'll be all alone" Jake cried.
"Mary -Jane will be here. Now
stop your crying!" Oh, great,
thought Jake. 1 get to spend Christ-
mas with the maid.
Jake's parents had a lot of mon-
ey. So they went to parties and
were not home very often. Jake hat-
ed it but he never showed it.
"That's okay. I just like getting
gifts anyway. I don't like all that to-
getherness stuff. I'm way too cool
for that!" Jake yelled. But no one
heard him. His parents had already
shut the door.
Jake had only one friend. His
name was Archie. Archie's family
had very little. Jake being very rich,
teased Archie.
Archie was over at Jake's house
swimming in his pool. Jake was
bragging about what he was get-
ting.
Archie said, "All I want is a bas-
ketball and a net. I ,will not get it
hut my family will be together."
Jake looked down at his feet. They
talked for a while. At 9:30 Archie
went home.
Jake woke up on Christmas
morning with excitement - nothing.
No tree, no gifts, not anything.
Mary -Jane came running in.
"Oh Jake it terrible. Your par-
ents lost their fortune. They lost
everything." Jake got up and ran to
Archie's house.
"My parents lost all of their mon-
ey" cried Jake.
"Come in. Have Christmas with
us." Jake went in. Everyone was
opening their presents. Jake felt out
of place.
"Here Jake open , it" Archie said
happily.
"Okay." Jake opened it and
gasped. "Oh no! I can't accept. It's
a basketball and a net! This is what
you wanted.
"1 have my family, you have
nothing. You have it," Archie ex-
plained.
Jake and Archie became very
good friends. Jake never bugged or
teased Archie again. He learned
there was more to Christmas than
just presents.
When Jake's dad got home he
went and bet on a race horse. His
horse won. So he got his fortune
back. They lived happily ever after!
Merry Christmas!

Santa Gets Stuck in
Thunder Bay
By, Holly Howitt, reporter
Biddulph School, Grade 5/6
Thunder Bay, Ont. - Santa has
crashed in Thunder Bay and can't
go anywhere until someone comes
to rescue him.
Santa is in Thunder Bay and
there is not much shelter available.
he became stuck when he was
about to take off from a house. A
dog woke up and started to chase
Santa. he kept on flying until he
flew in to a storm over Thunder
Bay.
Right now according to Santa the
reindeer are not very jolly about
this whole tragedy.' Santa feels very
bad about you kids. He just hopes
you can forgive hint.
We're not sure how long he's
been there. His watch became stuck
on a T.V. antenna so he is not quite
certain of the time.
Santa says this isn't the first time
this has happened. It is in fact the
30th time. He has already delivered
to half of the world, not counting
the places he flew over when the
dog was chasing him. He would
like his elves to come and rescue
him. Right now he is watching the
reindeer freeze while he plays
checkers with Rudolph.
Rudolph's nose is running out of
energy. The other reindeer's feet
are cold.
Here's a message he sends to
anyone who's going to rescue him.
"Hurry."
