Grand Bend Christmas Concert
Trimming the Christmas

the Grand Bend Public
School kindergarten
class at the school's
Christmas Concert last
Tuesday evening. At left,
Mrs. Claus encourages
her husband to lose a lit-
tle weight before Christ-
mas, for fear the sleigh
would not make it off the
ground in the grade 2/3
class' Christmas tale.
Elves in the grade 2/3
class of Grand Bend Pub-
lic School were watching
for their cues in the
"Santa Goes on a Diet"
sketch, which was per-
formed entirely en
Francais.
VON guest of Hurondale W.l.
USBORNE - The theme for the
Hurondale WI meeting held at the
home of Marian Dougall on No-
vember 30 was Family and Christ-
mas.
Janice Hayter - Oke of the Hu-
ron -Perth VON and a member of
the Multi -Service Agency was the
guest. Janice gave the members
information on the work of a VON
and also spoke on Long Term Re-
form.
Several members displayed the
articles thcy made at the Huron-
Pcrth Education Workshop at Clin-
ton' and St. Pauls. Gladys Richard-
son spoke on articles she is mak-
ing by the art of podging.
Readings on "Christmas Memo-
ries" and "Hugs" were given by
Helen Hodgcrt. Articles on the
Women's Institute was given by
Marian Dougall.
President Lois McFails opened
the business with the 16 members
and several guests answering the
roll call with "Your Family Christ-
mas Tradition". A donation to the

Group 3 served a tasty lunch of

Zurich youngsters carol
at Blue Water Rest Home
ZURICH - The students of Zu-
rich Public School went carolling at
Blue Water Rest Home Friday
morning. Chris Eagleson was pia-
nist for the Grade one to three pu-
pils who sang many tunes such as
"Mary Had a Baby Boy" and "All I
Want for My Christmas is a Dino-
saur."
Lan -y Weido from the Grade five
and six group recited "Jesus Was
Born on Christmas" and joined his
peers in singing "He's Got the
Whole World in His Hands" along
with many other carols. The resi-
dents enjoyed visiting with the
youngsters after their carolling and
everyone was wished a very merry
Christmas.
The auditoriurn was resounding
with Christmas music on Saturday
afternoon with Max Ducharme and
the Town Liners who kept the resi-
dents swaying in their seats and in
a jolly Christmas mood. Geraldine
Schenk on piano, Doug Insi€y on
Hawaiian guitar, Harvey Smith on
guitar and Art Finlayson on Span-
ish electric guitar played many of
the residents' favourites - "Jingle
Bells", "Rudolph the Red Nosed
Reindeer" and "Silent Night", just
to name a few. Vera Thiel thanked
the group and asked them to call
again soon.
Pastor Bob Peebles, a retired
United Church minister residing in
Exeter conducted Thursday after-
noon chapel service. Fr. Matthias
Wronski, St. Boniface Church, Zu-
rich celebrated Mass.
"Going My Way" with Bing
Crosby was the Monday afternoon
video at the Horne on Monday. In
spite of his early demise, Bing is
still a familiar TV figure during the
Christmas season.
Help! The Hobby Room is in
need of old balls of yarn, old panty
hose or nylons to be used for stuff-
ing. If you have such unneeded
items, drop them off at the Home to

BLYTH - The four Blyth Festi-
val mainstage productions drew a
paid attendance of 79.4 percent or
31,081 people in 1994 an increase
of 29 percent over the previous
year.
He Won't Come in from the
Barn by Ted Johns was a huge suc-
cess, drawing 12,346 sats -err 94.4
percent capacity. It was held over
for one week, which was sold out.
Glengarry School Days by Anne
Chislett drew 73.1 percent of ca-
pacity, 6,654 seats. Bouncing Back
by Suzanne Finlay played to 5,897
people, 70.8 percent of capacity,
and The Black Bonspiel of Wullie
MacCrimmon by W.O. Mitchell
sold 6,184 seats, representing 71.6
percent capacity.
Special events have played a ma-
jor part in the success of the sea-
son.. The Twentieth Year Retro-
spective brought ' back many
wonderful artists from the past in-
cluding Miles Potter, Kate Trotter,
Trish Vanstone, Bob King, Jim
Schaefer, Seana McKenna, Jack
Blum and John Roby. The audi-
ence enjoyed great moments from
past hits as well as a fabulous meal
in the courtyard. Moxy Fruvous,
Don Harron and Catherine McKin-
non, as well as Graham and Elean-
or Townsend all donated their time
and talent this year.

Harvey and Julene Keys played
host to their family in the auditori-
um of BWRH on Sunday for a pre -
Christmas pot -luck nieal. Each
family member brought their fa-
vourite dish, which meant Harvey
didn't need to go out into the cold
and could also receive any nursing
assistance he might require during
the festivities.
Condolences to the family of the
late Karl George Heideman who
passed away at University Hospital,
London on December 13. Karl was
a local fanner who came to the
Horne in February of this year to
receive necessary nursing care. His
neighbours and friends were still
able to keep track of him as he
drove in and out of town, checking
the running of his farm, right up to
the last day he was a resident at the
Horne.
An apology to those missed in
last week's article in regard to the
annual board/staff Christmas dinner
award evening. Anne Klungel, RN
retired after 17 years of service at
the Home. Ruth Greb, Nurses' Aid
retired after 26 years of service.
Best wishes to both in their retire-
ment and thank you for your kind
years of service to the residents and
their families. You will be missed!
