WE ARE A CANADIAN AUTHORIZED PIONEER DEALER
Just one of four tables
serving up the turkey
at Stephen Central
Thursday lunchtime
were trustee Bob
Heywood (left) with
Parent's Association
director Fay Schenk
and parent volunteers
Sally Palen and Janet
Smith. Students were
treated to a
three -dollar turkey
dinner cooked and
served by the Parent's
Association. Monies
raised will go towards
installing window
blinds in some
classrooms.
This was the first
fundraiser for the
Association and
proved to be very
successful, dishing up
over 200 plates.
Joshua Heywood
(below left) provided
the main course for
Stephen Central's
turkey dinner Thursday
with the fruits of his
labours. He raised
some of the turkeys
for the dinner during
the school year.
Carollers to sing in Centralia
They plan to have re-
freshments afterwards
at the church.
By Mary Peterson
CENTRALIA - The theme for
the fourth Sunday in Advent at
Centralia United Church was love -
the love of God, the love of Jesus,
and the love of Mary, his mother.
Heather Smith presented a mono-
logue entitled "Mary's Journey".
She portrayed Mary after she had
learned that she would be the moth-
er of Jesus - and the mixed feelings
of wonder, excitement, disbelief,
hope and fear that she experienced.
How could she, a poor, unmarried
young girl, become the mother of
the Messiah? Why Mary? What
would her future husband think of
these very unusual circumstances?
Many questions, and few answers,
as Mary awaited the birth of Jesus.
The music was lovely during the
service. Marjorie Johns played the
organ and Ellen Graham accompa-
nied on the violin. The sanctuary is
beautifully decorated, and a very
welcoming site for the Christmas
Eve service. Everyone is invited to
join in the service which will be
held at 8:00 p.m. The offering that
evening will be donated to the Ex-
eter Food Bank.
Prayers are extended to the Re -
*burn family near Grand Bend
whose home was tragically de-
stroyed by fire. Donations are be-
ing accepted at the Big V in Exeter.
A donation from the Christmas
concert of 560.00 will be given to
the family.
The Christmas concerts at Cen-
tralia and Zion West were great fun
for children of all ages. Everyone
enjoyed this festive occasion.
People will meet at 7:00 p.m. at
Centralia on Thursday, December
22 to go carolling. There will be re-
freshments to warm up at the
church afterwards.
On Christmas Day, there will be
worship at 9:45 a.m. at Zion West.
Bible study will start in January.
There will be sessions Sunday
evenings and Mondays at noon
hour. Further information will be
available shortly.
On Thursday, January 5, Central-
ia U.C.W. will hold their first
meeting of the new year.
Euchre
The next euchre party at Hey -
wood's Restaurant will be in 1995
on January 9. At the recent get to-
gether, Irene Theander won the
Special. Pat Davis and Harry Noels
won Lone Hands, and Edith Eaton
and Harvey Latta the High Hands.
I hope everyone has a very merry
Christmas! - Mary
