St. Patrick's
ACW meets
for lunch
A program and busi-
ness followed the
luncheon.
By H. Davis
SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's
A.C.W. met on Wednesday, De-
cember 7 with eight members
present and two visitors for a deli-
cious potluck luncheon at the Da-
vis's. Mary Davis asked the bless-
ing.
Following dessert and coffee
Psalm 126 was read, also Luke 3:1-
6 by Betty Johnson and the medita-
tion was entitled "Preparing for
God's Salvation on a World Stage".
Prayer for sick members was led by
Rose Cunningham remembering
Marguerite Greenlee, Prayer for
Confirmation remembering Court-
ney MacGillivray and Crystal Da-
vis from St. Patrick's was led by
Heather MacGillivray, Prayer for
Dominion of Canada led by Mary
Davis followed by the closing
player before the business entitled
"footprints" by Mary Davis.
Christmas gifts to shutins were
arranged to be sent also our Fair
Share to the Diocesan Council. A
letter form the Bishop of Keewatin
was read thanking St. Patrick' for
their three bales sent this summer
to our Prayer Partner. Christmas
gifts and canned items collected to
be delivered to Daily Bread this
week.
Last minute plans for Sunday
School party and lunch for the
Confirmation Service were dis-
cussed. Reports were read and ap-
proved. A poem entitled "A Cross
in My Pocket" by Betty Johnson,
our Christmas gift exchange and a
closing prayer and thank you to the
hostess was the ending of a perfect
afternoon together.
St. Patrick's Holy Communion
Service was held at 11:00 a.m.
Sunday. December 11, Advent 3.
Rev. Stephen Emery, for his chil-
dren's focus, reminded the congre-
gation that true thanksgiving for
God's gifts is shown in how we
live our lives each day, in how
much we are willing to share with
others. Harley Davis, Katie-
Scarlett, MacGillivray and Travis
Davis assisted in the lighting of the
Advent candles, hope, peace and
joy.
The Sunday School Pageant was
cancelled and will be held on
Christmas Eve, December 18. Con-
firmation service will be held at
11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas's, Gran-
ton all parish service. Scripture
readings are to be Micah 5:2-5a,
canticle Luke 1:46-55, Hebrews
10:5-10, Holy Gospel St. Luke
1:39-45.
It is with great sadness I report
the passing of a dear friend and sis-
ter-in-law Marguerite Greenlee, a
lifelong member of St. Patrick's
who passed away peacefully at her
home on Friday, December 9,
1994, after a long, courageous bat-
tle with cancer. Sincere sympathy
goes out to her husband Earl and
her family, her mother Mary Davis,
sisters Janett and Alexia and broth-
er' Hugh from the congregation of
St. Patrick's and community. Mar-
guerite was buried from the C.
Haskell and Son Funeral Home in
Lucan on December 12 at 11:00
a.m. with dear friend The Reverend
Beverley A. Wheeler officiating as-
sisted by Rev. Stephen Emery, Par-
ish Priest. Friend and neighbour
Peter Garland delivered the eulogy
honouring Marguerite. Wendy Els-
ton was soloist accompanied by
Jackie Martens. She will be greatly
missed by us all in the community
and her church.
