Zurich interested in fire dispatch system ZURICH - Village council is in- terested in replacing its present "fire phone" dispatch systerrLwith a 24- hour program operated out of the Seaforth Hospital. They hope other local municipalities will be interest- ed in joining in. Acting clerk Sharon Baker told council that it would take at least three municipalities' support to make the system worthwhile. "For some fire departments, Exet- er for example, it would actually be cheaper for them," she said. With a capital eos^t of $700, plus operating expenses, Baker said the system would have the advantage of assuring someone beside a dispatch phone 24 hours a day. The present system has several "fire phones" in Zurich but Baker said "there's al- ways a chance no one would be there" in the event of an emergency call.
