EPS Grade 6 students
learn Japanese ways
Last week they cooked and ate a traditional Japanese meal
EXETER - Miyuki Tsubouchi is becoming a very
familiar person throughout schools in Huron and
Middlesex county.
Last week, she visited Exeter Public School where
she helped Grade 6 students prepare a traditional jap-
anese meal which was later eaten in traditional style,
with chop sticks.
"I'm introducing Japanese culture and background.
I brought slides and videos and I'm helping the teach-
ers," said Tsubouchi.
One of the teachers she was helping educate the
Grade 6 class was Bill Van Wieren who has been in-
troducing his students to the Japanese way of life.
He said it has been very interesting and his class
really enjoyed it. They have been learning about dif-
ferent cultures from many countries.
Tsubouchi, 21, graduated from college in March
and is in Canada as part of the International Intern-
ship Program.
"I came in April and I will go back on December
25. I'm visiting many schools," she said.
She compared learning to speak English in Japan,
to Canadians learning French in their schools.
"Everyone has to learn English, I took it for two
years in college."
Cooking a traditional Japanese meal was a group effort at Exeter Public School last
Wednesday. Here grade six students Gina Fragiskatos, left; and Adam Little are helped by
visiting Miyuki Tsubouchi.

TALK WITH
THE EXPERT
This holiday season put a grin on your child's
face... and one on your own. With toy replicas
from Ford New Holland.
These die-cast replicas look just like their big
brothers. And, like their big brothers, they're made
to last.
We know, because we talked with the expert,
too. But, better hurry in for the best selection of
Ford New Holland toy replicas.

Thursday afternoon Chapel service.
Fr. Matthias Wronski, St. Boniface
Church, Zurich celebrated Mass.
Friday morning it was "all
aboard" as residents boarded the
bus for a trip to Masonville for the
Christmas 'shop till we drop'. Vera
Thiel, Kurt Gebel, Esther Makins,
Marcella Dietrich, Edna Johnston,
Dorothy Bapty, Bruce Steeper and
Rose Merner made the outing with
their helpers Gordon and Carol
Yull, Elsie Gingerich, Angelica
Metzger, Jane and Dana Thiel, and
Glen Thiel as driver, and Cathy
Shantz, Adjuvant and coordinator
of the trip.
The residents have a busy week
ahead with the Auxiliary on De-
cember 6, the Optimists and Cubs
