LaPorte - Rau
Lori Rau and Mark LaPorte
were united in marriage on
October 8, 1994 at St. Pe-
ter's Parish, St. Joseph's On-
tario. Lori is the daughter of
Dick and Barbara Rau of Zu-
rich and Mark is the son of Is-
idore LaPorte and the late
Mary LaPorte and step son of
Paula LaPorte of Zurich. Maid
of honour was Lisa Rau, sis-
ter of the bride. Bridesmaids
were Kim Hoffman and Aimee
Gelinas, friends of the bride
and groom, Collette Van
Haarlem and Rita Bedour,
friend of the bride and Tanya
Thiel, friend of the bride and
groom. Flowergir! was Stacey
LaPorte, niece of the groom.
Best man was Greg Overholt,
friend of the groom. The
groomsmen were Todd La-
Porte, brother of the groom,
Darren Rau, brother of the
bride, Dwayne LaPorte, broth-
er of the groom, Marc Clau-
sius, friend of the groom and
Wayne Thiel, friend of the
bride and groom. Ringbearer
was Brandon Rau, son of the
bride. The couple now reside
in Zurich.
Forthcoming marriage - Jan-
ette Zellas and Gail and Bob
Turner are pleased to an-
nounce the forthcoming mar-
riage of their children Bobbi -
Lee Jane Edgett and Jason
Robert Turner. The wedding
will take place Saturday, De-
cember 3, 1994 at the Kip -
pen United Church. The re-
ception will be held at the
Vama Community Centre.

scheduled for season

GRAND BEND - The Season
Advent has begun and Immaculate
Heart of Mary parish in Grand
Bend has a number of activities and
observances scheduled throughout
Advent. Masses will be celebrated
nearly every morning; and several
evenings during the week, and con-
fessions can be heard anytime you
request Father Beck for the oppor-
tunity. On Thursday evenings there
will be short "candlelight" service
with Benediction of the Blessed
Sacrament. Christmas choir rehear-
sals follow immediately after on
Thursdays.
On Saturday, December 3rd,
please come to church for a short
period of prayer (15 minutes) be-
tween 10 a.m. and 12 noon, to pray
for vocations. December 4 and 11
are designated as "White Gift" Sun-
days to bring on -perishable food
items and gifts for the needy in our
community. Please indicate on your
gift the target age, and whether it's
for a boy or girl. This collection is
being organized by the Catholic
Women's League. There will also
be a box at the back of the church
for stamps, pill bottles, old jewel-
ery and old eyeglasses, all to be
Scenic Gardens donors
EXETER - The Exeter Lions Club reports that donations continue to
come in towards the scenic gardens under construction In Mac -
Naughton Park.
John Stephens said that the campaign to sell engraved paving stones
is going well, mainly because it allows families and businesses to
have their names become a permanent part of Exeter and area his-
tory.

Thursday, December 8 the CWL
will participate in a special "Re-
spect for Life" Mass at 7:15 p.m.
The entire parish is invited to the
Parish Hall on December 11 after
11 a.m. Mass to celebrate the birth-
day of Father Paul Beck our pastor.
The Church choir will be per-
forming at the Thedford Rest Home
on Wednesday, December 14 for
the seniors. The choir will join oth-
er local choirs and singers for a
special performance at Oakwood
Inn on December 23, beginning at
7 p.m. for an evening of Christmas
music.
The Catholic Women's League
will be celebrating their Christmas
Party on Tuesday, December 6 a 8
p.m in the Parish Hall following
Mass in the church. The special
guest speaker will be Anne Hutch-
inson, of London radio fame, so
bring a friend ladies only' this
year.
On the same evening, December
6, at 8 p.m. the Grand Bend United
Church will be hosting their Christ-
mas Ecumenical Service. Members
of all local churches are invited to
attend and to participate in the pro-
gram.
