Holy Communion
celebrated at
St. Patrick's
SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's
celebrated their Holy Communion
Service at 11 a.m. Sunday Novem-
ber 13, Pentecost 25. Rev. Stephen
Emery lilr the children's focus
talked about changes in our lives.
When life gets scary we know that
it will be OK and that Goxl will
make it right that "Life is full of
Surprises."
Sunday November 20, the ser-
vice of Morning Prayer will be
held at 8:30 a.m. Scripture read-
ings to he Jeremiah 23: 1-6, Reve-
lations 1: 4h - 8, Psalm 93. The
Holy Gospel John 18: 33-37 for
the last Sunday after Pentecost or
Reign of ('hrist Sunday.
The November ACW sleeting
will be held on Wednesday at 1:30
p.m. at the home of Hazel Davis.
Personals
Ron and Margaret Carroll were
Sunday evening dinner guests with
their slaughter Brenda and family.
Margaret is celebrating a birthday
this week.
Margaret Carroll assisted with
the Exeter Villa Christmas bazaar
on Saturday where mother-in-law
Eileen is a patient.
Harley Davin was weekend visi-
tor with Bob and Dorothy Dietrich
of Zurich.
Mrs. Mary Davis along with Mi-
cheal and Marylou Rumleski were
Saturday evening dinner guests
with Bob and Alexia Tindall.
Crystal Davis visited overnight
with her friend Amy Hodgen of
Ushorne.
Suzanne Davis and children at-
tended the Mount Carmel CWL
bazaar and hake sale in Dashwood
on Saturday.
Our prayers for good health are
with Marguerite Greenlee who is
still in hospital from all her rela-
tives and friends from St. Patricks.

Remembrance Day
services conducted
The Lucan Legion
conducted the service.

GRANTON - The Lucan Branch
of the Canadian Legion conducted
a Remembrance Day service on
Friday, November 11 at 2 p.m. Pas-
tor Normalie Voakes was present
and led in prayer. The Province of
Ontario wreath was laid by Robert
Parkinson, for the unknown soldier
by Harold Fraync, Lucan Branch
540 by Jock Holland, the Ladies,
Auxiliary 540 by Jennie Bollis and
Granton United Church by Amelia
Jameson.
Margaret Oakley spent a few
days last week with her nephew
Marcel Devos of Chatham. While
there, she attended the Remem-
brance Day service on Thursday at
the Chatham -Kent Secondary
School where her brother Robert
Anderson's name is on the honor
roll having lost his life in World
War 11.
Beef supper
The annual beef supper at Gran-
ton United Church on November 9
was very enjoyable and well attend-
ed.
St. Thomas ACW
St. Thomas ACW met at Jean
Noon's home on November 3. Co-
ordinator Cathie Wcstman chaired
the meeting and led the business
discussion.
Margaret Oakley gave the bible
reading and Jean read an article
about the milkweed pods which
were used for stuffing in the lift
jackets during World War 11. M the
close of the meeting, the hostess
served refreshments.
Church services
M. St. Thomas Anglican Church
on Sunday, the Rev. Stephen Em -
cry led the service of Holy Com-
munion. His message was about
the hope that God has provided in
this strange and unfair world if our
hearts and minds are open to his
daily presence.
At Granton United Church on

The Christ Candle was lit by An-
drew Bryan and the anthem by the
choir was 'Light of my soul'.
Flowers were placed in the church
from the funeral of Ilahcllc Harl-
ton.
Granton 4-H
On Thursday, November 10 the
No. I Granton 4-1-1 Club (Santa's
Workshop) met at the home of De-
anna Beatson and from there went
to the Creative Affairs flower shop
in Lucan.
Owner Terri McRoberts showed
the group different Christmas
plants and as she was having an
open house on the weekend, they
saw lots of great ideas for Christ-
mas.
Later they returned to the Beat -
son home and president Susan
Bryan led the business part of the
meeting, and Shannon O'Shea
shared a book with ideas for the
holiday season. Then they played a
game involving Christmas songs, .
which was won by Julie MacGre-
gor and Jean Bryan.
Next, each one was given an en-
velope and three pieces of paper
with which to make a Christmas
card using only scissors and glue
(to be judged at the next meeting).
Leader Margaret Bryan served a
lunch of gingerale and candy -cane
cookies, and Susan closed the
meeting with the 4-H motto.
