16 Week Temporary Position
Applications are invited for a temporary position in the Huron
County Health Unit's Tobacco Use Prevention Program. This
contract position will be responsible for implementing the
education phase of The Tobacco Control Act.
Responsibilities:
• compile a database of all public places and retailers
affected by the Act
• promote public awareness of the Act through media,
resource development and other education programs.
• develop collaborative working relationships with community
partners, schools, police etc.
• maintain records, reports and statistics required for Ministry
of Health reporting
• promote awareness of Tobacco Control Act compliance
requirements
Qualifications and Abilities
• Bachelor's degree in a health-related field, communications
or appropriate equivalent
• demonstrated abilities in program planning, media
communications
• excellent oral and written communication skills
• computer experience required
• valid Ontario driver's license and own vehicle

Program
This individual will be responsible for
all aspects of training community vol-
unteers in accordance with the pro-
gram guidelines and training curricu-
lum. The trainer will prepare volun-
teers to become certified Community
Food Advisors to improve and prom-
ote safe and nutritious food selection,
preparation, and storage practices in
their community.
Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree
with a major in Foods and Nutrition;
experience in teaching safe and nutri-
tious food selection, preparation, stor-
age and preservation; demonstrated
skills in public speaking and conduct-
ing workshops and food demonstra-
tions; an understanding of volunteer-
ism and a commitment to peer educa-
tion. Knowledge of the Huron com-
munity is required. Use of a vehicle is
necessary.
The term of service will be part time
from December 1994 to March 1996.
