THAMES ROAD - Rev. Jim All-
sop was in charge of the first fall
church service on Sunday morning.
The Responsive Reading was tak-
en from the Green Service Book
"The Lord Does Great Things for
Us", with verses from Psalms 125,
126 and 127. The choir sang "My
How It Did Rain" accompanied by
the organist Jean Hodgert.
Robyn Etherington read the
Scripture Lesson Proverbs 22:1-2,
8-9, 22-23 and from James 2:1-17.
Rev. Allsop read from Mark 7:1-
37. The title of his sermon was "Je-
sus Was Able: Are We?"
The closing hymn was Hail to the
Lord's Annointed.
Wright reunion
enjoyed
KIRKTON - The annual Wright
reunion was held Sunday August
14 at Kirkton Woodham Communi-
ty Centre which over 50 attended.
In the absence of the president Gor-
don Wright, Lorne Ross greeted
everyone. After a smorgasbord din-
ner Lorne Ross conducted the busi-
ness.
The 1995 reunion will be held
the second Sunday in August at the
same place and time with Bob
Ross, as president and Laurabelle
Reichert as secretary. The Jeffery
family will be the sports commit-
tee.
The oldest person present was
Esther Wright and the youngest Za-
chary Chambers. Edith and Vernon
Wright, St. Catharines came the
farthest. Jim Jordon had the oldest
coin. Carl Wright won the penny
contest, and Vernon Wright won
the jelly bean contest.
The winners of the races were:
balloon stomping Laura Wright, Ja-
cob May frishi toss - boys Chip
Reid, girls Hilary Hardman. Shoe
scramble Rebecca Wright, Stephen
Reid, hall in basket - up to 7 - Mat-
thew Ross, over 7 Chip Reid. A
candy scramble concluded the

drop-in

HBNSALL - With summer
drawing to a close and fall right
around the corner, we welcome
back our local, community adult
drop in.
Thursday, September 15 activi-
ties at the Hensall United Church
include: foot care at 10 a.m., noon
meal, Cathy Ryan, Public Health
Nurse will speak on the Healthy
Heart and provide consultation.
Games will complete the day.
Cost is $4. per person for meal
and program. S1. only for activi-
ties. Reserve by phoning Margaret

Town and Country Homemakers

ming is beginning again for line

Thames Road Sunday School is
to start next Sunday, September 11
with a new format this year. This is
also Promotional Sunday.
On Tuesday, September 13 the
U.C.W. will meet at 6:30 p.m. at
the Masonic Hall for supper with a
meeting to follow. Note change of
date.
On September 14 the U.C.W.
Fall Regional will be held at Exeter
United Church at 7 p.m.
On October 5 the Official Board
meeting at Elimville will begin at 8
p.m.
Personals
Norman and Lori Lynn Lauzon
and girls spent the holiday week-
end with Jack and Ferne Stewart of
Exeter.
Exeter dining for seniors
EXETER - Lori Pozniak from Town and Country
Homemakers hosted dining and programs August 2
and 9, while Tammy Antaya was on holidays. She
took us through a set of exercises following a deli-
cious beef dinner on August 2.
Keyboard players for the month were: Jean Hodgert
and Maxine Sereda.
Draw prizes were won by Vera Mills, Jenny Harris,
Ruth Skinner, Mary Neil, An De Ryik, Erma Scof-
field, and Lloyd Ballantyne.
Maida Gaiser has been the cook for the last four
and a half months. She was presented with a gift by
Tammy in appreciation of her assistance.
On August 23 Brian Decker and his Karate pupils
put on an impressive display of their talents. Jeanne
Gladding was the hostess.
A sing song followed several meals conducted by
Rev. Grant Mills and Pat Skinner.
Birthday greetings are extended to the following in-
dividuals: Humphrey Arthur, Lloyd Ballantyne, and
Mildred Thomson. Congratulations and best wishes
for many more years was extended to all!
Games were enjoyed in the north room to round
out the days.
September 13 has the Grand Cove dancers back for
a few numbers. Maybe we will see you there!
