Mrs. Donald Osborne of Exet-

ter, Cynthia from the Uni-
versity of Windsor. Cynthia re-
ceived her Bachelor of
Science degree in nursing at
the Convocation June 11,
1994 and has successfully
completed her Canadian Li-
censure Examinations for

Puppeteers
at Centralia
Bible school
CENTRALIA - Over 80 children
ages two to 12 enjoyed three even-
ings of games, songs, crafts and
puppets during Bible ,school. The
Blyth Puppeteers taught the chil-
dren about three different Bible He-
roes in the gatne show 'This is
Your Life." The final evening wrap
up consisted of hot dogs. pop, can-
dy floss and lots of balloons.
The Youth Group toured to Lon-
don for an evening of howling and
the Quiz Tcatn gathcrcd at the
Crawfords home for swimming and
games over the past two weeks.
Lost and Found Club begins
again on September 7. There is a
class for everyone from the young-
est to the oldest.
The Sunday School Promotion
Sunday and Perfect Attendance
Awards will be held September 11.
The gospel singing group `The
Chapliers' ministered in song for
the evening service. Instead of sing-
ing outdoors, due to strong winds,
the service was held indoors and
enjoyed just as well.

Society held its annual flow-
er
lower show last Wednesday at
the Hensel! United Church.
Awards were given out in a
number of categories for
flower arranging as well as
picture taking.

CENTRALIA - Euchre parties
continue at Heywood's Restaurant
on Monday afternoons. At the re-
cent party, winners were: Helen
MacDonald (latries' high), Irene
Theander (ladies' lone hands),
Murray Carter (men's high), Harry
Noels (men's lone hands), and Bes-
sie Caldwell (special). The next
party will be held September 5 at
2:30 p.m.
Heather Smith has returned from
her vacation to continue her minis-
try at Centralia and Zion West
United Churches. Services will re-
sume on Sunday, September 4, at
the regular times.
The United Church Women will
meet at Centralia United Church
Thursday, September 8 at 8:00
p.m. for their first meeting of the
fall season.
Personals
On Saturday, friends and rela-
tives gathcrcd at Centralia Commu-
nity Centre to congratulate Frank
and Janet Hicks on their 50th wed-
ding anniversary. They were mar-
ried August 30, 1944. The hall was
beautifully decorated with lovely
flower arrangements, interesting
photos, and newspapers from 50
years ago.
A special treat was provided by
Frank and Janet's granddaughter;,
Leanne Beauchamp, who wore Jan-
et's original wedding dress. Grand-
children Sarah and Mark assisted
with registration and videotaping
during the evening.
Guests came as far away as Parry
Sound. A family dinner at Hey -
wood's Restaurant was enjoyed
prior to the celebration.
June and Bill Essery entertained
family members at Spruce Grove
on Sunday. Members of the New-
combe family travelled from Mich-
igan to attend the family reunion.
Denise and Tom Newcombe en-
joyed overnight camping at Point
Farms Park with their family and
stopped to watch a parade in Clin-
ton on their way to Centralia. Ruth
Ann and Matt Pickett and Arlene
Newcombe were overnight guests
at Spruce Grove.
Family members were interested
to hear about Rob Essery's and his
wife, Mary Peterson's recent visit
to France where Don Newcombe
had died in an airplane crash dur-
ing World War iI.
Activities included indoor games
for the children until the sun ap-
peared, and a lively game of touch
football followed.

country with Glen Thiel as their
chauffeur. They drove to Arkona to
look at all the fruit trees and came
hack with a hag of Jersey Macs.
The Bean Festival was a great
success with the weather cooperat-
ed for the Saturday event. Bernice
McClinchey, Blyth, sister of resi-
dent Harold Thiel, won the blue
and green cross-stitch quilt created
by Verda Baechler and the Auxil-
iary. The caned chair was won by
George Mathonia, Zurich. Clarence
Smillie of BWRH Apartments
caned and refinished the chair and
donated it to the home. Cecilia Far-
well reports sales on tickets for
both the chair and quilt were very
successful and thanked those in-
volved.

EXETER - The "Sunshine Gals"
held their 28th annual get-together
'August 24.
Their day began with a noon
luncheon at the 3 AAA's restau-
rant, returning to the home of Mar-
jorie Hodgert to reminisce and
browse through old photographs
and taking some new ones.
Member Agnes (Creery) Lamond
of Cromarty was unable to attend.
Those attending were Allan and
Ella Somers, St. Marys; Greta Gib-
son, Lucan; Ann (Creery) Vigeant,
London; Louise Creery; Norma
