Here's a nutty idea. A new drug from chest-
nuts contains a chernical'which reduces swell-
ing, pain and bruising. The amount of the
drug, aescin, varies from chestnut to chestnut.
Researchers are trying to find those with the
largest amount. They figure they will need 250
r;illion nuts a year to produce the drug.
A U.S._study has found that 50% of Americans have had a men-
tal or emotional disorder by the age of 55. Only one in four
sought help. The main problems were depression, alcoholism
and phobias.
When kids congregate in places like in day-care centres, infec-
tions like impetigo, chickenpox, skin infections and warts some-
times spread. Best way to prevent this spread is to proper wash-
ing of the hands. This applies to adults as well. Many of the
infections are spread from hands to mouth and nose.
Just a reminder that cloudy days do not provide sufficient protec-
tion &Against sun damage because 70-80% of the sun's ultravio-
let rays penetrate the cloud covering. So still use that sun-
screen.
