Summer - is the season for family reunions. MacNaughton Park was once again the gath-
ering point for the Heywood family reunion Sunday afternoon, the 26th year the group has
been getting together. A pop -a -shot game ,set up at the paVilron proved to be a gathering
point in its own right for the younger "reunionees ", and here, Ryan Campbell takes his
turn at the hoop.

Express lose
twice at
Lakeside
tourney
LONDON - While success con-
tinues for the Exeter Express in
their Great Lakes Senior League
they had troubles on the weekend at
the Lakeside tournament.
Last Tuesday the Express ran
their league record to 8-5 including
winning their third in a row, as they
beat Thomdale 13-8. They will try
and make it four in a row Thursday
in Thorndale on Thuay.
At the Lakeside tournament, Ex-
eter lost their opener 10-7 to Court -
right Friday night but on Saturday
bounced back to edge Rexdale 3-2.
However, the Express were elim-
inated Sunday when they lost 5-3 to
league rivals Lakeside.
In the opener, the Express ex-
ploded for four runs in the third and
were ahead 4-3 after three complete
but gave up two runs in the top of
the fourth and five in the top of the
seventh.
The third inning saw Ron Elliott
double and Rick Boon singled and
combined with two walks and two
Courtright errors gave Exeter a
temporary lead.
Dave Atthill startpd on the
mound but gave up 10 hits before
being replaced in the seventh and
final inning by Mike Agnew.
Against Rexdale, each team
could only manage five hits in this
defensive battle and what proved to
be the winning run came in the bot-
tom of the sixth.
Scot Davidson walked, moved on
an error which put Agnew aboard
and Davidson scored on a passed
ball. Scot Russell went the distance
on the hill, striking out nine while
walking only one.
Three runs in the bottom of the
sixth frame by Lakeside hurt the
Express in what was the 'B' semi-
finals. Exeter led 2-1 after two in-
nings but it was tied up after three
complete.
Marty Merner had a good game
on the mound as he struck out three
and allowed just six hits over the
six and two-thirds innings he
worked.
Last Tuesday in Exeter, the Ex-
press used six pitchers to beat
Thorndale 13-8. This was a slug-
fest as the hosts had 13 hits while
Exeter pounded out 14.
Leading the hit parade were El-
liott and Boon each with three hits
while Don MacDonald and Scot
Russell each connected twice.
On the mound, Davidson started
but after giving up seven hits and
seven runs in two and two-thirds in-
nings, Agnew came on. He was
followed by Atthill, Mark Glavin,
Bill Glover and Boon.
