Summer job scene
is looking positive
HOLMESVILLE - Monday say.
an important event take place. In
the spirit of Hire a Student Day, the
Canada Employment Centre for
students in Exeter, Clinton, and
Goderich, held a two -pitch baseball
game, that competed local
employers against their student
emplaces. Also, playijg a major
part in the day were the local
WOW Coordinators and their
students. The game took place at
the Lavis Diamond in Holrnesville.
With the help of all the participants
and local businesses, the entire day
and its events were a success.
On another high note, the CEC-S
office in Exeter is pleased to report,
that for the second year in a row,
the summer job scene for students
is looking very positive. The
number of job ordgrs placed with
the centre is up 25 percent over the
same period last year. As a result,
over 150 students have been
successfully _ placed in jobs
registered with the office.
A Targe number of the jobs
placed with the centre, as in past
years, have been casual labour
positions - stonepicking, lawn
cutting, painting - lasting a few
hours, days or weeks. Thank
goodness for the odd job squad;
students who are prepared and
more than willing to do these jobs.
If there are any employers who
are still interested in hiring a
student, contact the Canada
- Employment Centre for Students,
at 235-1711, Monday to Friday
from 8:30 to 4:30.
