Back to school
The school children will be start-
ing back to classes after Labour
Day weekend on Tuesday, Septem-
ber 5 at 9 a.m.
Bowling
The Ladies Bowling League had
their organizational meeting at the
Town and Country Lanes last Tues-
day evening.
It was decided that the Monday
night teams begin on September 11.
If any women want to get on a
team, phone the Bedards at 236-
4923 as soon as possible.
Skating
Registration for figure skating is
scheduled for September 9 at the
Zurich Arena, from 10:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Septem-
ber 12 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Zurich and Area Figure
Skating Club will be having a fall
skating school at the Hensall Arena
from Wednesday, September 6 to
October 4. If you are interested in

The Club will be presenting a
fashion show at the arena auditori-
um on Thursday, September 28 at
7 p.m. Advance tickets are $9.00

Exchange students
Exchange students who spent last
September to July at the home of
Lou and Delores Schilbe, Zurich,
returned to their homes in Domini-
can Republic and Belgium.
A nine-year old child from Belo-
russia who spent the past couple
months at the home of Larry and
Debbie Denomme, RR 2 Zurich
has also returned home.
Phil and Laurie Erb and family of
Zurich hosted 17 year-old Laur-
ence Depierre from Belforte,
France for the month of August.
Ted and Lansbergen also hosted
an exchange student from France,
Celine Leurent, for the month of
August.
Senior Diners
Sixty-five Senior Diners from
Hensall, Exeter and Zurich enjoyed
the indoor picnic held August 23 at
the Community Centre. The 50/50
draw was won by Georgina Engler,
Exeter. A humorous skit• TV.
Commercials' was presented by
five women from the Zurich Din-
ers. The watermelon seed -spitting
contest was won by Carl Finkhein-
er and Theresa Stark, Zurich. The
Swingin' Seniors provided toe -
tapping music, much to the enjoy-•
ment of the diners. Bingo, Solo and
euchre games were played.
Zurich Golden Agers bowling
will begin Thursday afternoon,
September 7 at 2 p.m. and all
Thursdays following. All seniors
are invited to come out and have
fun and meet new friends. For

fax, Nova Scotia, spent several
days this past week with her moth-
er Seleda Steckle of the Blue Water
Rest Home Apartments.
Taylor Robin Bilcke was bap-
tized at St. Boniface Church on
August 27 by Fr. Wronksi. His par-
ents are Robin and Cheryl Bilcke.
Best wishes for a speedy recov-
ery are extended to John Jacobs,
RR 1, Zurich, home from Strathroy
Hospital.
Ruth -Ann Flaxbard of London
spent a few days last week visiting
with her parents Earl and Anne
Flaxbard.
A bridal shower was held recent-
ly for Jodi Brokenshire, daughter
of Allen and Sharon, at St. Peter's
Lutheran Parish Hall. Jodi is the fi-
ancee of Dale Port, Burlington.
The couple are planning to be mar-
ried in October in Hamilton.
Nick and Chris Littlechild attend-
ed an Optimist Club convention re-
cently in Chatham at the Wheels
from August 17 to 20, along with
President Leanne Studerus, RR 1
Dashwood.
Afterwards the Littlechilds and
family spent a vacation at St. Cath-
arines, Niagara Falls and Marine -
land.
