Should photo radar have been scrapped?
Marg Miller, Exeter
"No, once it was started, why
scrap it? There's so many
speeders on the road we need
something to slow them down."
Mark Williamson, London
"It's better if there's a cop out there.
You don't stop a guy from speeding
more with photo radar."
Pam Lovell, Staffs
"No, I don't because people who
think speeding is allowed should
reconsider the fact that other
people need roads to be safe."
Judy Skochlnski, Exeter
"Yes. I think the whole prevention
program with catching the tail-
gating and the speeding is a
better use of resources."
Dennis Milroy, London
"No. I'm a truck driver and i've
seen some bad accidents. I
think it's a deterrent to slow
down."
Travis Williamson, London Dave Thomson, St. Marys.
"i think it's stupid. If l lend my car to "It has its good points and its bad
someone and they get a ticket, it points. I've heard they've been
slows them down, not me." spending more on developing phstos.
does keep the traffic slowed down."

Letters to the editor
Make -A -Wish Foundation
says thank you
"The Exeter community played an
important role in the showcase."
Dear Editor:
irst, I would like to take this opportunity on be-
half of everyone at Make -A -Wish Foundation
(SWO) to thank you for your support of the recent
"Cottage Country Interiors" fundraising event.
There is no doubt that we owe a great deal of our
success to the coverage in your newspaper.
The Exeter community played an important role
in the showcase. Not only were three of the eight
design firms from Exeter, we recruited a great many
of our 400 volunteers in Exeter. We would like to
thank all who contributed.
The Make -A -Wish Foundation of South Western
Ontario extends a heartfelt thank you to all who
contributed to the success of "Cottage Country In -
tenors".
The Interior Designers and Landscapers, the Steer-
ing Committee, the local business community and
400 volunteers who gave valuable time and energy,
shared skills and talent expressed the sincerest form
of devotion possible for the wish children and their
families.
Special thanks also to the media. We couldn't
have done it without their generous support.
Congratulations to Margaret Prout of Exeter who
won the dinner for two at Waldeck's European Bi-
stro and Ron Gilpin of Thedford who won the hand-
crafted bunny.
Once again, thank you for choosing to make a dif-
ference in the lives of the children we help.
Yours truly,
Becky M. Jackson,
Director of Fundraising and Public Relations
Invitations go missing in mail
"Maybe they should go back to
sorting mail locally instead of
sending it to Timbucktoo."
Dear Editor:
Rumors have it that we are due for another postal
increase August 1. Does this mean further service
decrease? I certainly hope not. We all put our trust
in Canada Post on a daily basis to get mail to its
proper destinations. But, where do all the letters go?
We have a wedding coming up in our family in Au-
gust. The invitations were posted in Glencoe, Onta-
rio six weeks ago and at least four of them have still
not reached their destination. How many more we
are not sure. We are now in the process of phoning
invited guests to make sure their invitation has ar-
rived. Our wonderful postal service has caused us a
lot of grief because of friends and relatives feeling
hurt because they thought they were forgotten. I am
grateful to those who have brought these missing in-
vitations to my attention, before the wedding, while
there is still time to make things right. Maybe they
should go back to sorting mail locally instead of
sending it to Timbucktoo.
Sincerely,
Liz Selves,
RR 1, St. Marys
P.S. I am delivering this letter in person. It should
take all of about 20 minutes.
Kevin Benoit, London
"Yeah, for sure because if you're
driving you could get more than one
it ticket."
Ron Dumin, Port Albert
"Not if it reduces accidents or
causes the roads to be safer
but if it's just a money maker,
then it should be scra. •ed"

Many people are counting grams of fat intake as a
way of eating healthily and reducing their weight.
Combined with exercise, it works very well. Butter-
milk sounds like it would have lots of fat in it but
actually does not. Buttermilk Is cultured from skim milk hence its low In
fat content.
Speaking of fat reduction, try reducing the amount of oil you cook with
by getting the pan and oil very hot before adding the food. Cooking
times will be shorter and less fat will be absorbed into the food.
Oxford University doctors are studying the use of maggots to treat infect-
ed wounds. There is some evidence that using maggots (which are actu-
ally housefly larvae) will hasten the healing of wounds.
When you receive a prescription for an antibiotic, take it until it is all
gone. Bacterial resistance to antibiotics is becoming more common and
part of the reason for this Is that people just don't always finish their
antibiotics. This allows the bugs to leam how to live with the drug.
Our redecorating Is almost finished. Stop in and have a look around. Let
us know what you think.
