Carmel Sweeney ZURICH - There's a bus trip planned to Canada's Wonderland from Zurich Arena on Tuesday, July 18. if you're interested, phone Optimist Club member Terry at 238-8033 as soon as possible. It will cost $22 per person for the ride and a ticket into the park. The bus leaves at 8 a.m. and returns at 8 p.m. Parents Without Partners Parents Without Partners next general meeting is July 13 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Hwy. 8, Clinton. There will be a guest speaker. For information call Bonnie at 236-4691. Bible School Many children from the various churches in Zurich enjoyed taking part in the Vacation Bible School held last week at the Mennonite and Lutheran Church halls. The theme was "Our Family". A musical program and skit wrapped up what they learned and was 'enjoyed by many parents, friends and relatives. Medal winner An Exeter girl, Courtney Oke, a member of the London Aquatic Centre Swim Team competed in Etobicoke at the All Ontario Finals, winning a Provincial Gold Medal in the 1 1- 12 year old 200 Butterfly Event. Courtney is the daughter of Wayne and Deb Oke, Exeter, granddaughter of Don and Betty Oke, Zurich and great- granddaughter of Vera O'Brien. Personals A 90th birthday party and supper was enjoyed by Kathelene Swee- ney in Troy, Michigan on Satur- day. Cathy is the daughter of Ray and Janice Hartman of Zurich who is planning to be married in October. Ross and Helen McDougall of Mount Forest spent the weekend with friends Curtis and Mary Gingerich and all attended the 50th anniversary celebration of Earl and Doreen Oesch on Saturday. A good time was had by those who attended the Merner family re- union held Sunday near Dashwood at the Black Bush School House. The Heywood family reunion was also held Sunday, at Mac - Naughton Park in Exeter. Best wishes for a speedy recov- ery to Marg Johnston of the Zurich area who is home from hospital. An open house for Hilda Rader will be held at the Blue Water Rest Home on July 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. in honour of her 90th birthday. Jeffrey Thomas Hartman, son of Francis and Doreen, RR 3 Zurich, was baptized at St. Boniface Church on Sunday by Fr. Wronski. Jennifer Morgan Smith, daughter of Jeff and Donna from London was also baptized. She is the grand- daughter of Ed and Dorothy Smith of Zurich. Earl and Doreen Oesch celebrat- ed their 50th wedding anniversary at an o}ien house at the Mennonite Church on Saturday with several friends and relatives attending. Af- terwards a dinner was held for fam- ily members and invited guests. Daughter Wendy and Bob Nye and two boys from Rodonda Beach were home to celebrate with her parents. The couple's four other children came from Toronto, For- est, Brampton and Zurich and their eight grandchildren also attended. Louis and Josie Denomme re- turned home on Saturday after a three week vacation.
