summer programs for children

program on Thursday afternoons
from 1 to 2 p.m. beginning on July
6 are to phone the librarian Helene
Ducharme at 236-4965 to get their
name on the list.
There will also be a program for
younger children during the month
of August on Thursday afternoons.
Potluck supper
A potluck supper was held at the
United Church on Friday with
members of the Bayfield Church
invited.
Ham and strawberry supper
There will be a ham and straw-
berry supper in Dashwood at the
Community Centre on Tuesday,
June 27 from 5 to 8 p.tn.
Seniors
The Senior's Picnic Supper will
be held in Zurich this Thursday,
June 28 beginning at 4 p.m. at the
Community Centre.
Class trips
The Bean Sprouts Nursery
School students, teacher Carolyn
Mathonia and several mothers
spent last Tuesday in London at the
Children's Museum. They also had
their graduation ceremony at the
public school on June 21.
On Tuesday the grades four, five
and six students of Zurich Public
School enjoyed an end -of -the -year
bus trip to the Ontario Science
Centre in Toronto.
The students in grade eight at St.
Boniface travelled by bus to Niaga-
ra Falls on June 22, 23 along with
some helpers.
Hay Day winners
Congratulations to the next two
winners of the Hay Days '96 cash

Graduations
The grade eight students of St.
Boniface School held their gradua-
tion on Tuesday, June 27 beginning
with a social hour and supper and
ending with mass at 7:30 p.m.
The graduation for grade eight
pupils of the Public School was
held Monday, June 26 with a din-
ner served to the students and their
parents.
Swimming lessons
Registration for the Zurich and
area summer swimming lessons for
children born between the ages of
1981-1990 will be held this Thurs-
day at the Community Centre from
7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Cost per child is
$52.00.
Lessons begin July 12 until Au-
gust 10, every Wednesday and
Thursday morning in Vanastra. For

Parents without Partners
Parents Without Partners is now
established in the Zurich area and
is known as the Clinton Chapter.

Senior diners
Pink and yellow snapdragons
centred each table for the Zurich
Senior Diners Dinner Wednesday,
June 21 at the community centre.
Happy Birthday was sung for din-
ers having birthdays in June. Thea
Vandenboom was the 50/50 win-
ner. Gwen McKeller gave a read-
ing on 'Hugging'. Vandenboom
gave two readings, 'Life' and 'Ma
and the Auto'. Games of card bin-
go were enjoyed by all.
Rest home
A family dinner held at the Rest
Home was a big success with tots
of people attending.
Bus trips
There will be a bus trip to Penn-
sylvania Dutch Country fro July
10 to 13. Participants will/experi-
ence the building of Noah's Ark at
"Sight and Sound" and V✓ill take a
ride on the Strasburg Railroad.
Another trip is being planned for
August 12, Saturday, to Cullen
Gardens, for a tour of a miniature
village, floral displays and a Cana-

Wayne and Helen Horner from
Alberta spent last week in Zurich
visiting with her mother Elizabeth
Grainger and his dad Harold Horn-
er, and their families.
Bailey Nicole Regier, daughter
of Chris and Sandra Regier was
baptized on Sunday, June 25 at St.
Boniface Church by Fr. Wronski.
In spite of rain showers Sunday
afternoon, a good time was had by
those who attended a farewell party
for grade seven teacher Mike Ma-
sotti, St. Boniface School, held at
the home of Rose -Mary and Ivan
Bedard with his students and their
families enjoying a barbecue sup-
per.
A family get-together was held at
the home of Willy and Martha
Overholt on Saturday for the broth-
ers and sisters on his side of the
family.
Descendents of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Alfred Meidinger held a fami-
ly reunion at the Zurich Communi-
ty Centre on Saturday.
The Fleischauer families met
Sunday, June 25 at the Dashwood
Community Pavilion, with 90 in at-
tendance. The candy guessing con-
test was won by John McIntyre,
and the duck soup contest by Jan-
ice Stacey. Greg and Deb Thiel
were in charge of the children's
games; Donna Hill and fan,ilr+the
adult games.
The committee in charge for
1996 are: Past president Marion
and Larry Roger; President Tim
Gingerich; Children's games Bren-
da McDonald and Lindsay Rotteau;
Adult games Marion Rogers and
Ruth Ann; Kitchen committee
Donna and Sherman Hill and Reta
Thiel.
Abbey and Wilma Erb along
with friends from Kitchener visited
with some of their friends in north-
ern Michigan for a few days this
past week.
