Not that the Hawks defence is in fallible, but they've held opponents to just one goal a game in their last ` three contests. Exeter blasted North Middlesex 5-1 at South Huron Rec Centre on Friday. Mike Bowerman led the Exeter attack with two goals while Sean McCann, Jeff Glavin and Jeff Finkbeiner added single markers. Ryan Chamney and McCann had two assists each and Glavin, Jason Dunlap, pen McCann and Brian Richardson added single helpers. Greg. Goodwin and Ryan Freiter were shown the showers for fight- _ ink in the second and third, period respectively. Exeter coach Dave Revington said goaltending was key in the win. " I think (Matt) Fawcett played. really well early on Friday night," Revington said. Exeter won 3-1 'at Mount Brydg- es on Thursday. Dan Taylor, Jeff Campbell and Finkbeiner scored for the Hawks with assists from Sean McCann (2), Bill Hodge, Freiter, Dunlap and Taylor. Though close, the Mount Brydges contest could've been tougher if the, 'Bulldogs had the three or four players back that have been out the last couple of weeks, said: The Hawks got a lot of help from their seven Exeter Minor' Hockey affiliate -midget-age- players.-ithat were in the line-up on Thursday.. . "The midgets and, -their coach Dave Dalrymple have been' ex- tremely helpful," Revington said. Mid -week games, like tonight's trip to the much -improved Belmont Bombers home rink (an 8:30 p.m. start), are tough for the Hawks since many players can't suit up' due to post -secondary school or other responsibilities, Revington said. As of last week, Dykeman has accumulated 384.5 hours of overtime since 1992 and has amassed four weeks and two days of untaken holidays. Lucan council found out about the mailer at last week's meeting. Though village public works staff get lime and a half for overtime, of- fice staff take time of in lieu of overtime and all employees are forced to take accumulated holidays, there is no such policy for arena workers+,lad- ministrator Ron Reymer said. Dykeman said he brought the subject up at October's arena management board meeting so it -would be documented in the meeting minutes and that the issue doesn't have to be dealt with now. In a later interview, Dykeman suggested he take the time off before .he retires at the end of 1998, adding what will be done about the outstanding overtime and holidays will be up to the arena management board. Reasons Dykeman listed for his excessive accumulated overtime include cuts to the recreation department's budget, his covering for other em- ployees when they're off on disability, away for training or when on vaca- tion in the summer.
