"ernon Dean Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle Tli scenario is unbelievable! Arriving for a celebration ' of my birthday, I'm surprised by the enormity of the festivities. Every possible item that can be decorated is adorned in some festive colour. Balloons. banners, signs - it seems that everyone has come out to celebrate my birthday. But something is wrong! As I pass among the celebrants. no one has yet acknowledged me, and it's my birthday. As the hours pass. I become more and more dismayed. -No one even remembers the purpose of the party. No one seems to care that this time of celebration was originated to honor me. It seems that everyone is giving everyone else a present but I am left out. I even see one sign among the.glitter which substitutes an "X" for my name. How grieved I am becoming. How sad that on my birthday, I'm forgotten. Won't someone remember that it's -my birthday? COMMUN1IY _ 111 "IVA, .01,4F-40, Ar/Z/ o w • Where Are They Now? is an extended ,cries on South Huron District High School graduates and their career choices Sheila Dougall - Public Relations Director GRAND BEND - While Sheila Dougall's job title may be Public Relations Director, she does much more than P.R. • She handles corporate sponsorships. marketing; media relations, advertising, publicity and special event promotions. • Dougall works at Huron Counrty, Playhouse and said sarcastically "my job list could probably extend three pages." - Dougall graduated from South Huron District High School in 1991., after which she went to Brock University,. receiving an Honors BA in Business Communications. - During her last summer of high school And the • first two summers of college she worked at the Sheila Huron Country Playhouse as a box office assistant the first year and a publicity assistant the next two years, perhaps foreshadowing her future career. Dougall graduated, from Brock University' in 1995. but wasn't quite finished with learning. In September of that year she enrolled in.a one-year Public Relations certificate program at Humher College. - She explained her experience after college helped her towards her goal:as a public relations director. She has worked for. conference services at Brock University, and did her intern in Toronto at Fleischman -Hillard Canada. Dougall knew in Grade 10 she wanted to pursue a career in some type of field that demanded writing. She has achieved that and said she really enjoys what she does. "It's been busy hut it's been a lot of fun," she said. "I've learned about marketing and about people and about myself and.the theatre. That's important because . you need to constantly he learning." -Dougall has picked -up many hobbies over the years. although she said she rarely finds time to enjoy any of them. She said she likes to figure skate. read and surf the net, hut hergrearest hobby is her desire to learn. Her memories of high school involve her friends, many of whom she still keeps in touch with. "When I was in high school we had a really good Efougall 1 group of friends. The friendships I made in high . school are still some of my closest friends today. 'That's one thing about South Huron District High -School - you make friends tharwill last." • She also said high school prepared her for university.and allowed her to grow beyond what she grew up with.
