punch, assistant coach Mike Soldan said. Matt Froud •and Stewart since they hail from St.
The Chiefs played a scoreless. first period versus Marys. The three played for the Chiefs last season
.host Elora on Sunday and didn't get tin the hoard till " 'when Si Marys didn't put a juvenile team on the ice
well into the second period on their way to .a 3-2 and decided to stay loyal to Exeter by suiting up for
them again this season. •
Soldan said he and the rest .of the coaching/
management staff are concerned with their team's
lack of offensive power which will be needed in the
playol Is. The Chiefs continue to win -albeit by a lot
of one or two goal games.
"We we not finishing when we should, we are not
going to the net enough and we .are not shooting
enough." Soldan said. "Many of our wins should
have been by three or four goals yet we can't seem
to put the puck in the net. We have
been juggling lines in search of the
right combination. We have a solid
hockey club hut we need to de-
velop that instinct to put the op-
ponents away early on. the score-
board..'
The Chiefs finally return home
after a lengthy absence from the South Huron Rec
Centre to take on Acton on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
On Dec. 11. Exeter travels to New Hamburg.
Chiefs general manager John 'Rasenberg said
these two games will be the biggest tests for the
club so far this season. Head coach Kevin McArter
said he was concerned with the team's performance
on Sunday and that the issue would he addressed at
the next practice.
The Chiefs are 40 over their last four games and
have a 7-1-1 record.

Dan Finkbeiner scored from Chris Roaburn and
Paul Knight. but then Elora scored twice within
minutes to take a 2-1 lead into the third frame.
Jeremy Stewart scored for Exeter from Scott Ra-
senberg to tie the game with 2`.52 lett. Knight fin-
ished Elora off with 1:54 left by tipping a Marty de-
Bruyn pass. John Rutten picked up the second
assist.
A deBruyn slapshut went over the net and took
out the end glass with 1:07 lett re-
sulting in a several minute delay.
The Chiefs held on to- a 2-1 lead
for the last two periods to beat host
St. Marys on Saturday.
St. Marys believed they had the
tying goal but the marker was dis-
allowed because it was directed in
by a high slick, Chiefs assistant coach Mike Soldan
said.
The game ended on a chippy note with two St.
Marys players going after acting Chiefs captain
John Rutten who was wearing the 'C' in place of
the absent deBruyn. Rutten showed leadership and
his high level of discipline by skating away from a
potential melee. St. Marys was handed two game
misconducts (one for third man in), a fighting major
and two minor penalties after the incident.
Rcaburn and Dan Gdanski had the Exeter goals
