Gone but not forgotten
• Thanks for time served. Bidaulph Township honored its retiring council members at its
Christmas party on Friday at Lucan Community Memorial Centre's Leprechaun Hall. Pictured
are 15 year council veteran Jim Barker and his wife Janette,. Marietta and Jim Shipley (25
,. years on council) and Joanne and Herman Steffens (nine years on council). Barker, Shipley
and Steffens all received gifts and theirwives were 'given flowers. Biddulph Reeve Earl
French served as M.C. for the night and he -and administrator Larry Hotson had :some fun
with Shipley who is a well known criticizer of everything French. and non -Conservative. Hot -
son had a. fake letter drafted from Prime Minister Jean Chretien written in French. They also
gave Shipley a French -English dictionary. The three retiring councillors' families were also in-
vited to the -party, a surprise for Barker, Shipley and Steffens.
Handcrafted items up for grabs in library draw
EXETER - The Friends of the Exeter
Library is sponsoring a draw for hand-
crafted articles with the draw laking
place Dec. 20 at the library.
The Friends of the Exeter Library_ was
formed 10 years ago and is a group of
volunteers who believe in supporting
the library.
The Iihrary _hook sale, fund raising,
open houses and special functions are
all projects of the group:
The purchase of various pieces of
equipment for the Iihrary, most recently
three sections of junior picture book
-shelving for the children's department
were made possible through the
Friends. . -

Libary visited the library on Friday to take a look at the
articles in the fund raising draw.

euchre on November 26. Winners'

There were six tables in play.

The Angel Tree was up and dec-
orated with angels, each one identi-
fying the -gender and age of a child
in' the care of the Huron County
Children's Aid. Rev. R. Putman
spoke to the. children on The Alpha
and the Omega - The Jessie Tree.
The` choir's anthem was
"Immortal, invisible".
Scriptures were read by Bertie,'
Keyes: The offering was collected
by the. children. •Cameron • Eddy. .
Karie Jennison. Judd and Ben
Morgan. Prayers. of Thanksgiving
and ler others were given by Judd
Desjardine.
Flowers were placed in the sanc-
tuary by Shirley McIntyre id- mem-
ory of her husband. Ken.
Christmas theme for WI
HURONDALE - The Christmas
meeting of the Hurondale W.I. was
held at the home of Margaret
Strang on November 26. Fifteen
members and -three visitors sat
down to dessert at 1:15 p.m.
President Manan Dougall conduct-
ed the opening exercises and roll
call -was - answered with "A
Christmas Concert Memory". After
the business and correspondence.
June Stewart and her group were in
charge of the program. She gave a
Christmas reading and the motto
"A Holiday Theme" was given by
Fern Dougall.
Marilyn Pym conducted some
