Christmas gift requests
Each month the. children of the Centralia United Church Sunday School gather for an in-
formal fun night. The children had a chance to bend Santa's ear on Thursday night.

waltz and polka music. Clarence
Smillie, a tenant of Blue Water
Rest Home Apartments waltzed
around the floor with residents.

on the dance floor while some pre-
ferred to tap their toes to the music.-

Program, made old fashioned tree
-ornaments and decorated'a•tree in
the• auditorium in traditional style.
Paper candy cones. popcorn
strands, snowflakes and four sided
paper ornaments were created and
hung from the tree for .the magic of
Christmas and in preparation for
the ' resident/family annual
Christmas dinner.
Tuesday evening members of the
Lakeview Conservative Mennonite
Church sang hymns for the resi-
dents. Church members of all ages
attend and the residents enjoy lis-
tening and watching the young
singers every second month when
they visit the Honie.
Wednesday afternoon tea was
served in the auditorium to 45
guests and in the evening.the Grand
Bend Institute visited the Home for
the monthly birthday party.
Residents Bill Leihold, Philippa
Sicckle, Pearl Miller and Muriel
Carson wcrc presented with small
gifts- from the Auxiliary.
Chairperson for the Institute was
Donna Lovic. Larry Cole led about
a dozen m mhcrs of the Grand
Bend Goldet Agers Kitchen Band
who entertained the residents with
Christmas and old time music. To
!ighten the evening Larry told some
of his .favorite jokes and cookies
were served by the members and
Auxiliary volunteers.
Rev. Daniel Roushorne, Carmel
Presbyterian Church, Exeter con-
ducted the Thursday afternoon
Chapel Service. Fr. Matthias
Wronski, St. Boniface Church,-cel-
•ebrated Mass.
The Home was given two
bushels of apples. and each tenant
(34) received a cloth bag of apples
from the apple orchard of Anthony
and Janet Soer who live on
Highway #21 near Grand Bend.
It was full house on Sunday as
323 resident family guests filled
thcir palette with roast turkey,
stuffing, ham and Christmas pud-
ding at the Annual Resident/Family
Christmas dinner. Hugh Harper
played many of his favorite season-
al melodies on the piano, followed -
by Audrey Habcre' as organist and
Christa (Keller) Ducharme as
pianist. In all, everyone enjoyed
four hours of volunteer music.
Many families were able to gather
together and enjoy a good visit
prior to and after their dinner. Folk
came from the Toronto, Hamilton,
Owen Sound, London and Sarnia
areas to spend time with their par-
ents on their special day.
The Home had three draws fol-
lowing the dinner. The winner of
the Auxiliary lilac quilt was
Blanche (Bill) Ducharme from
Highway 21; the winner of the red
ladies' night shirt was Sandi
Skinner of Centralia, daughter of
resident Vivian Frcmlin; the winner
of the two rose pillows was Helen
(Bill) Wagner of Hay Township,
daught: r -in-law of resident Elda
Wagr.ri.
Everyon ' is looking forward to •

Auxiliary on December 2; a birth-
day party with St. Peter's Catholic
Church. December 3; Heather
Redick and her tole painting on
December 8; the Grand Cove
Singers and the Seaforth Harmony
Highlights on December 9; car-
olling by St. Boniface and St.
Peters Youth Group December 11;
and the students of Kim Redick on
December 13.
