Serving commun- .ion were Rev. Dr. Johyn Ambrose and Nancy Fraser 1 to begin this month -assisted by Debbie Timmerman and Dave Campbell. Shirley McAllister was the presider. Rev. Dr. Johyn -Arnbrose was.the preacher. The Chairperson was'Betty Graber from=Presbytery--The--Preshyter-y--Respentative— was Paul Ross. Rev. Dr. Johyn Arnhrose's sermon was "A Gift of Hope". Cecil Pepper and Raye Jacohe were the ushers with Dave Campbell looking after the elevator. Chuck Mallette was the organist for this special service. -"Will You Come and Follow Me". "Break Bread Together". and "Just As 1 Am" were sung. Refreshments and a so- cial time were enjoyed following the service. A Progressive Euchre will- be held at the Hensall Community Centre on the afternoon of October 9 at 1:30 p.m. Admission is $2 each and prizes: 'and lunch will be provided. This event is sponsored by the Hen - salt Twilight Seniors. The Hensall and District Horticultural Society will be sponsoring a Thanksgiving House. Balcony 'and Business - Decorating Contest. Wilena Brown was -guest speaker at the V.arna Anniversary .Church service in Varna on Sunday. -Rev. Brown was minister in Varna -Goshen .from 1979 to 1986. She shared the_chil- dren's story on "How Things Used to Be." Her sermon topic was "You are the Salt'of the Earth." Guest soloist was Margaret- Mclnroy of Blyth. Valerie Laurie played her flute. The -church service next Sunday will be in Varna with the celebra- tion of World Wide Communion. The 1997 Huron Farm Hiker Tour on October5 begins at the Ausable-Bayfield -Conservation Area. at Morrison Dam.- The Bannockburn Hike also starts at 2 p.m. Bring along -a cup for hot or cold apple eider.
