Lioness fashion show

Fraser is settling into Hensall and
enjoying small town life. -
Fraser has been a diaconal min-
ister since 1965 and has worked in
Iocal congregations
across Canada in
,Christian develop-
ment,.. outreach and
pastoral care." Shc
has also been in-
volved with the Ec-
umenical Institute of
Chicago which led
her to Ottawa, Sas-
katoon. Winnipeg,
Houston.. Epgland.-
Scotland and Bom-
bay to raise funds
and do community
forums.. Most re-
cently, -she -spent three,
weeks in Peru.
Originally from New Glasgow,
Nova Scotia, her last assignment
was with the Department of Ste-
wardship Services where she was
the regional consultant in the' To-
ronto conference of the United
Church.
The position included visiting
people who wanted to make a gift
to the United Church. She also

"In - that kind of position, you arc
pretty much a solitary .heing. You
don't have any one congregation
that - you're part of
and I miss that," she
said.
"I'm looking for-
ward to being part of
a team. There are a
variety of committees
that I'll be part of
within the local con-
gregation in Hensall
and I'll have col-
leagues in the (Hu-
ron -Perth) presbytery
and the conference
and look forward to
working with those
groups."
Fraser says she has enjoyed her
time in Hensall, especially the
"neighborliness" of the community.
A Convenanting Service for Fras-
er will be held at 8 p.m. on Sep-
tember 28 at the Hensall United
•Church. The Reverend Doctor John
Ambrose, the managing editor of
Voices United. will be the guest
speaker.

Varna area students receive awards

Congratulations to Steve and
Dori Taylor on the birth of their
second daughter and a new grand-
daughter for Pat and Barry Taylor.
Congratulations to Shelly and
Jared Roughen on their marriage on
Saturday. Many people from the
area.celebrated on Saturday with
Shelly and Jared.
Commencement 1997 was held
at Clinton Huron Secondary School
on Friday -evening and many from
the area graduated and received.

Tim Gerrits, Graham Keys, Heather
Laurie,•and Kim Taylor. -
Valerie Laurie received the
Knights of Columbus` Council
Award on Information Processing.
Kim Taylor received the Howick
-Mutual insurance Award for profs-
ciency in several Business subjects.
.Graham- Keys was awarded the
West Wawanosh Mutual Insurance
Company Award for a student pur-
suing a career in agriculture or.a
related field. Heather Laurie
received the-W.D. Fair Scholarship
for O.A.C. Subject Proficiency in
English Literature.
Kim TayJor also received an
award for having an 80 per cent
average in her senior subjects.
Heather Laurie received an award
for having 80 per cent average on
six O.A.C. subjects over the maxi-.
mum -of two years.
Congratulations to -all of these
students and good luck in their
