Nationals pick up two more mercies
EXETER - The Nationals midget girls fast
ball team cut down two more opponents
last week at home, mercying St. Pauls 14-3
on Sunday and Mitchell 1 14-4 on Thursday.
On Sunday, starting pitcher Lisie Geurts
put in four stellar innings giving up five hits
and three runs while striking out three. Kate
Skinner gave up a walk and struck out one
in her one inning of relief work.
Lisa Campbell swatted two triples while
Missy Hayter added three singles and
Amanda Glavin batted two singles and. a
triple. •
Meagan Ratz and Lisa Campbell turned a
double play for the play of the game,
A Nationals offensive explosion in the
third inning was the story of Thursday's
game versus Mitchell I at Centralia. Exeter
scored 10 runs, in their half of the inning,
erasing Mitchell's one run teed. Lisa Roose-
boom had the liveliest bat with a triple and
:three singles. Missy Hayter added four sin-
gles, Julie Rooseboom a single and a dou-
ble, Shawna Rowe had three singles and
Cara Gardner picked up two doubles.
But the easy wins this early in the season
are not true indicators on how the Na-
tionals will do come provincial qualifying
time next month, Hines said.
"Don't crown us kings yet," he said. "We
haven't faced stiff competition. They'll face
city teams there."'
The Nationals played at home versus At-
wood yesterday and host Zurich on Sunday
at 9 p.m,
