Golden Glimpses
Last call for tickets on the
beautiful appliqued quilt on
display here made by the
Ladies Auxiliary and the
draw will be made on
Saturday, August 22 at the
Zurich Bean Festival. This
time next week there will be
a lucky person somewhere
and we will be letting you
know about it next week.
Last week was another
quiet one with the exception
of visitors dropping in to visit
when they are in the area.
Residents who have been
out during the week are Mr.
Harold Barry, Mrs. Mabel
Jaques, Mrs. Jessie Brock,
Mrs. Eva Thiel, Mrs. Ella
Drysdale, Mrs. Inez
McEwen and Mrs.. Beatrice
Overholt.
On Thursday evening, the
Tigers hit
playoff trail
The Dashwood Tigers will
be starting down the provin-
cial playoff trail this week
as they meet Thorndale in
the first round of Ontario
Baseball Association- 'D'
play. '
The Tigers will be in
Thorndale Friday night at 8
p.m. to open the best -of -
three series. The second con-
test is back in Dashwood
Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
If a third game is needed it
will go at 4 p.m. the same
afternoon, also in Dashwood.
In other playoff action,
Courtright and Dresden are
meeting this week with the
winner taking on Nanticoke
in the next round.
Also this week Clarksburg
and Collingwood are playing
off with the winner going
against Kincardine. The
other quarter final playoff
series has Bownmanville
pitted against Pembroke.
The Tigers have had little
trouble with Thorndale in
regular Great Lakes league
action and should be
favorites to advance to the
semi-finals against either
Courtright. Dresden or Nan-
ticoke.
