Wins hockey stick
Eight year old Terry
Hoffman of RR 2 Dashwood
was one of the lucky winners
of a hockey stick from a
draw at Kentucky Fried
Chicken stores on Saturday.
He is a grandson of Mr. &
Mrs. Ross Johnston RR 2
Zurich and Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Hoffman, Dashwood.
Snowmobile accident
The best of luck and wishes
are extended to Tom Cyr for
a speedy recovery.
He was recently involved
in a snowmobile accident. As
a result he broke his leg and
is in a cast and is now, going
around on crutches.
Persona is
Gary Geoffrey of Elliott
Lake spent a few days with
his parents a week ago (Mr.
and Mrs. Clarence Geoffrey)
while he was in London
taking a course. Returning
home to Elliott Lake with
him was his brother Kevin
who is planning to get a job
there.
Mrs. Meryl Corriveau is a
patient in St. Joseph's
Hospital London.
Congratulations to Eugene
and Barb Hartman RR 1 Hay
on the arrival of their second
baby girl born on Jan. 17 at
St. Jospeh's Hospital. Little
Kerri-Lynn is the seventh
grandchild for Victor and
Irene Hartman.
Winter carnival
The students from town
who attend S.H.D.H.S. in
Exeter enjoyed all sorts of
different activities last
week, as part of their winter
carnival.
Figure skating
The Zurich, Grand Bend
figure skating club held their
C.F.S.A. Test day last
Tuesday.
Members who passed
were: Lisa Bedard,
preliminary figures; Andrea
Hendrick, dutch waltz; and
Heather Westlake, Canasta.
Passing the "s 'was

and Heather Westlake,
Catherine Brenner, Ten -Fox.
Also Debbie Bedard and
Catherine Brenner passed
the "Fiesta"; with Debbie
passing the "Willow".
All the children and judges
had supper at the arena also.

money for the skating club
by sponsoring them itr their
annual "Skate-A-Thon", that
will be held this Saturday,
January 31, 9:00 a.m. at the
arena.

Seniors enjoy fun day
Dashwood Senior Citizens
held their fun day Jan. 19
with 43 members present.
Two new members joined.

a pot luck supper business
was conducted.
The next fun day will be
held February 2.
A generous donation was
made to the medical centre.

UCW annual meeting
The United Church Women
of Calvary United Church
provided lunch for members
following the morning ser-
vices Sunday.
The annual meeting was
held in the afternoon chaired
by Miss Barbara
Laing.Budgets were set
and officers elected for 1981.
Rev. K. L. Howlett of the
Canadian Bible Society will
be guest speaker -Sunday '
February 1 at the regular
services at both Dashwood
and Zurich churches.
30th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Aaron
Restemayer celebrated
their approaching 50th wed-
ding aniversary Saturday
evening with a family dinner
at the Dominion Hotel,
Zurich. Also presentwere the
groomsman and bridesmaid
of 50 years ago, Mr. and
Mrs. Percy Willert, Zurich.
The evening was spent at the
home of their son and fami-
ly, Mr. and Mrs Leeland for the year. Mrs. Earl

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Becker
have returned home folio

ing a vacation to the west
coast and visiting with
relatives in Indiana, Califor-
nia and Arizona. They
visited the Rose Parade in
Pasadena which was headed
by Lorne Green. The
remaining trip was to New
Orleans and Nashville.
They had Christmas at
Fresno, California where
they attended chruch ser-
vices. A welcoming com-
mittee at the door made
them feel at home. The
minister announced how
happy they were to have
Canadians present and an
Oshawa lady was pleased to
see them.
