A native of Hensall is
$100,000 richer this week
thanks to Thursday's Win-
tario draw. •
Earl Bell, son of Mrs.
Ruby L. Bell of Hensall and
the late Glen Bell and
presently of 30 Gammage
Street, London, wasn't
aware he had increased his
savings account until well
after the draw was held.
The 39 -year-old carpet
installer cashed in his
winning ticket Friday for a
cool $100,000. "Most the time
I even forget to pick the
tickets nup, but this time I
didn't, -Bell said.
When he remembers to
buy the tickets, he usually
buys two to increase his
chances.
He was at a friend's house
Thursday night when the
draw was made and wasn't
aware he was a rich man
until he checked_ the winning
numbers later • that night.
"I've been buying the

tickets for quite a time now
but this still comes as a
surprise. It just wasn't ex.
peck"
Bell operates his own
carpet installation business.
On.Monday however, it was
business as usual, he said. "l
haven't got any definite
plans yet."
When the excitement is
over and the confusion
clears, Bell will decide how
to use the money. But right
now; he will just continue to
ride out the euphoria.
4-H meeting
The Hensall 4-H Club are
having an organizational
meeting Thursday Sep-
tember llth at Hensall
United Church at 7 p.m. Any
girls' 12 years and older are '
welcome.
Amber Rebekah lodge
reopens
Noble grand Mrs. Hazel
Corbett presided for the
reopening of Amber
Rebekah Lodge on Wed-
nesday evening assisted by
vice -grand Mrs. Elizabeth
Riley, who reported for the
visiting committee. It was
reported the float entered in
the fair board parade won
third prize. The noble grand
gave the treasurer's report.
A letter was read from the
D.D. president's secretary
Mrs. Marguerite Crawford
stating the installation of
officers will be on October
1st, by Sistr Mrs. Verna
Thomas D.D.P.
Correspondence was read
and discussed.
Start fall season
The autumn season for
Unit 4 of Hensall United
Church opened on Thursday
September 4th with a
sumptuous pot -luck dinner in
the fellowship hall of the
Church. Fifteen members
and ten visitors attended.
After dinner the regular
meeting was held with Mrs.
Britton , presiding. Mrs.
Dianne Gerstenkorn showed
slides from the Theme
"Come Praise The Lord"
where she attended the
school of leaders held at
Alma College in August. She
gave an interesting report of
their activities while there.
Mrs. Mickle led in Hymn
singing with Mrs. Sherritt at
the piano. Mrs. Eric Luther
and Mrs. Nan Britton sang
"Amazing Grace."

Ladies' Legion to
cater to weddings
Mrs. Alice Neilands vice-
president of Hensall Ladies'
Legion Au xiliary held the
first meeting of the autumn
season Tuesday evening.
Plans were made to cater to
a September wedding and
also later all weddings. Mrs.
Clarence Reid, sports
convener stated there would
be bowling tournaments in
Exeter and Wingham. _

Rev. Stan McDonald spoke
on the parable of the wed-
ding feast" at the United
Church on Sunday morning.
Donna St. John sang a very
beautiful solo "Swing Low
Sweet Chariot" and Dr.
Ralph Topp was the organist
for the service. The
children's story was "Do
You Wear a Mask". The
flowers at the front of the
church were placed in
honour of the marriage of
Miss Jane Heal to Mr. Steven
Jacobson which took place
on Friday. Rev. McDonald
made theannouncementthat
Sunday School would reopen
on Sunday September 14th at
11:00 a.m. and all children
were invited to attend.
Rev McDonald held a
family gathering on Sunday
in a farewell dinner for his
aunt, Mrs. Gordon
McDonaId of Senlac,
Saskatchewan who has been
visiting in Ontario
and Prince Edward Island
during the last month.
Present at the dinner were
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Whitney
of Zurich, Mr. and Mrs.
Chester -Earl and Miss
Judith Earl of Atwood. Mrs.
Carl McDonald of Atwood,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert McNea
of Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs.
McNea are_Copsy the Clown
and Francis Kay "Daisy" of
the "Copsy The Clown and
Big Top Talent T.V. Show"
through CKCO Kitchener.
Chiselhurst ladies' plan
their bazaar
The U.C.W. of Chiselhurst
United Church met on
Tuesday afternoon with the
president Mrs. Jack Brint-'
nell presiding and opened the
meeting by reading a poem
"The Smallest Blessings"
followed by t1ie theme song
and theme prayer. Mrs.
Harold Parker took the
worship "You are the Vine,
We are the Branches." She
read an interesting poem
"The Diary Of The Bible."
The roll call was answered
by Fourteen members
showing something of their
Grandmother's or an an-
tique. Thank You's. were
read from Pearl Shaddick
and Shirley Kerslake.
Everyone was thanked for ,
donations to the bake sale in
June.
It was announced four
members had attended a
leadership workshop at
Camp Bimini.
A discussion about
material for the parament
for the pulpit resulted in
chosing the blue velvet with
gold. Everyone was
reminded of the Anniversary
Sunday September 26th. The
ladies' are in charge of the
refreshments for fellowship
hour following the service.
The annual bazaar will be
held on Wednesday October
29th at 3 p.m. Mrs. Clarence
Coleman continued th Study
on "Japan". Mrs. Fredo Boa
read a poem "Deliquent for
Older People".
Celebrate 25th anniversary
Jim and Eunice Aikenhead
were honoured at their 25th
wedding anniversary when
their family entertained a
large number of relatives
and friends at the Hensall
community Centre on
Saturday evening. Dancing
was enjoyed to music by the
Blue Water Playboys. Lunch
was served at the close.

returned from a most
enjoyable bus trip to the east
coast and Newfoundland.
Mrs. Bert Horton un-
derwent surgery in St.
Joseph's Hospital on Friday.
Her many friends wish her a
speedy recovery.
Mr. James Sangster and
Brad returned home after a
fishing trip at Manitoulin
Island.
Dan and Catharine O'Neill
and daughter Christie of
London visited last week
with Mrs. O'Neill's mother
Mrs. C. Christie. Christie
remained for the week -end
with her grandmother.
Mrs. Grace Peck and Mrs.
Mayme McAllister of
Huronview were guests on
Thursday last with Mrs.
Dorothy Mickle and enjoyed
the pot -luck noon dinner and
program of Unit 4 in the
Fellowship Hall of the
Hensall United Church.
Mrs. Larry Uyl is a patient
in University Hospital
London where she is
receiving treatment.
Mrs. Mabel Munn
returned homes after spen-
ding a few days with her
daughter and son-in-law Mr.
and Mrs. Don Gooding and
Dale at Parkhill.
