Mr. Brian Brandon et al, were in the village over the weekend and attended the fall fair. Vandals strike A group of children busied themselves by vandalizing all street signs they came in contact with over the long weekend. In another related in- cident, two iron kettles planted with flowers and decorating the boulevard of a cottage, were viciously attacked by morons who pulled out all the flowers, leaving them on the ground beside the kettles. This Week in Sports The men's slopitch 'B' division quarter final series continued last week in Bayfield. with two games being played. On Wednesday night, the Bayfield Knighthawks evened the series at " one game each when they defeated the Bayfield Flyers by a 15-9 score. Thursday night it was all Knighthawks, as- they shut out the Flyers up at the diamond, 13-0 to take a 2-1 lead in the best of five series. The teams were meeting again this week as the playoffs continued. Last Tuesday night the Bayfield Babes had a chance to knock the Varna Agrico's out of further play, but couldn't take advanatage of co -aa the opportunity. The Agricos came to Bayfield determined to play and handed the Babes their worst loss of the season, 25-5. The victory allowed the Varna team to tie the see- saw semi-final series at two games each. This set the stage for the deciding game, in Varna, on Monday, September 1. Fans were treated to an excellent game on Monday, as the Bayfield Babes defeated Varna 11-2 to win the semi-final. series, 3 games to 2. Golden Glimpses Now that the fields are becoming bare and the children are back in school, it is a sure sign that the fall season is here. Everybody is getting back into routine and the fall programs are, beginning. We regret that Mrs. Emma Bennewies and Mt. Fred Gibson are patients in University Hispital, London. Mr. William Decker is confined to South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Next Wednesday , Sep- tember 10th, Leonard's World of Jewellery will be displaying their costume jewellery here in the Home from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00.p.m. The public are invited to come and look over the display and purchase if they are interested. The following week, September 17th, Gerri Fashions of London, will be setting up a display of clothing for both men and ladies. This clothing is designed for the mature person and includes dresses, lingerie, night wear, pant suits, men's trousers, un- derwear, slippers, socks, etc. The public are also in- vited to come and browse around from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If some of your family are residents here, it would be appreciated if you could come and look over the merchandise with them, particularly if you feel they are in need of clothing. Residents who were out visiting during the week were Mrs. Beatrice Overholt, Mrs. Fejne Armitage, Mrs. Florence Gould, Mrs. Margaret Pfaff, Miss Ethel Hess, Mrs. Nellie Cleave, Mrs. Mabel Jaques, Mrs. Inez McEwen, Mrs. Eva Thiel and Mrs. Nancy Koehler. . We appreciate all the donations of fruit and vegetables that we have received from the people of the area. Bingo was played on Friday evening followed by refreshments. The Sunday evening chapel service was con- ducted by Rev. Linn Losh- bough of the Exeter Baptist church. Mrs. Loshbough presided at the organ during the service.
