River barge focal point for d�rnonstr�ticn
The quietude of the village
was shattered early Friday
night, when many residents
turned up at a rally here to
protest against a proposed
marina and a barge blocking
one channel of the Bayfield
River, east of the bridge.
About 75 residents.

along Highway 21 to the
Bayfield Bridge. Chants of
"move that barge!" and
"save our •river !" • trans-
formed the writing on the
placards into a resounding
echo along the river valley.
Upon reaching the bridge,
more protestors .0111 boats,
dotted the river below.
