presently employed.
Mr. Fred Fansher, Wind-
sor was round and about the
village during the weekend.
Mr. Brian Makins,
Toronto, was again the guest
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

The Mumberly Inheritance
top notch
The Lambton Youth
theatre returned to Pioneer
Park in Bayfield last
Saturday evening and
presented their version of
"The Mumberly
Inheritance" (or His Sub-
stance Frittered).
The crowd of over seventy-
five persons became totally
enthralled in the ambitious
production dialogue from the
villainous `Mayhem Mar-
maduke' erupted the crowd
with 'boos and jeers', with
spontaneous cheers and
applause being saved for the
good -guys like Rodney
Stoutheart.
The well acted and easy to
follow play was broadcast
well by the actors, making it
a delight for everyone in
attendance.
The weather was almost
perfect, with a breeze
blowing in off the lake on the
audience seated on lawn
chairs and laying on
blankets on the ground in
front of the set.
As the evening wore on,
more curious onlookers
happened by, and once
caught up in the play,
couldn't leave without
hearing the ending, 'a twist
to the familiar story line.
As. the action reached its
climax, the sun dipped
behind a rising storm front
over the lake casting its tell
tale shadows on 'Mumberly
Manor' creating an image of
impending doom on the
`Suffolk' family.
However riotous applause
and laughter abounded - as
the play ended with a chase
scene throughout the
audience with the good -guys
getting their man.
Everybody had a smile on
their face.
It was top notch en-
tertainment, and not enough
can be said for this theatrical
group for bringing these
plays to places like Bayfield.
Those people that opted to
stay home and watch T.V.on
Saturday made the --'Wrong
choice.
Sunday afternoon they also
presented Brian Way's "On
Trial", family fare, which
also provided superb en-
tertainment for old and
young alike.
Varna church
getting facelift
Bob Speir has finished
painting the interior- of
Varna church, with the
exception of the choir loft,
which he will do after
repairing a leak. While the
pews are still out, the floor is
being refinished. At a

meeting on the weekend, the
stewards decided to put a
drain on the south side of the
church and change the.,slope
of the ground on the north to
rectify the problem of sur-
face water getting into the
basement.
Personals
Florence Elliott returned
home on Sunday after a six-
week holiday, two weeks
with her son Ross and his
family of New Liskeard, and
the remainder of the time
with Bruce and his family of
Aurora.
The Chessels' house was
re -shingled pretty fast on
Saturday with assistance
from members of the family
and many Hydro friends,
Bob Webster next door and
young Steven Taylor with
tractor and loader. They
were finished by mid-
afternoon.
I see' a number of grand-
parents have out-of-town
grandchildren visiting, in-
cluding the Bill McAsh's,
Mervin Johnstons, Bill
Taylors and Bill Chessels.
Church services resume
next Sunday, with an outdoor
service at Stanley Park on
the lake followed by the
annual picnic. Beverages
will be provided.
