Fourteen -year-old Cat-
harine Corbett, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Al Corbett

University Hospdtal, London
following an accident, when
the swing. she was on upset
throwing her to the ground.
The child was taken to South
Huron Hospital, Exeter and

derwent surgery for internal
injuries.
LLL hold meeting
La Leche League`of Huron
Co -South met last month at
the home of Mrs. Pat Jewitt,
RR 4, Clinton to discuss the
act of breastfeeding and
overcoming difficulties. The
leader,. Mrs. Peter Bisback
of Hensall welcomed women
and some nursing babies
who travelled from as far as
Goderich and Crediton, to
the second in a series of four
get-togethers intended to
give information and provide
support to those women
interested in breastfeeding
their infants.
The greatest difficulties
mothers met were at the
time of the birth and during
the hospital stay. Sometimes
women decide at the very
last moment they would like
to nurse their infant and find
they lack the necessary
prepreparation to get off to a
good start.
During pregnancy it is a
good idea to do some
reading. There are many
fine books such as :Nursing
your Baby" by Karen Pryor
as well as "The Womanly
Art of Breastfeeding" which,
are available to women
through La Leche League's
loan library.
Everyone agreed that the
father role can be very ac-
tive with a breastfed baby,
especially if there are older
siblings. Babies always need
to be bathed, diapered,
walked and talked - to while
mother is busy with the other
children or taking a much
needed rest.
The next meeting will be
held August 1st at Mrs.
Jewitt's home. It is hoped
that many new women will
join the regulars as well as
women who used to attend
league series. These ex-
perienced mothers are
always welcome guests and
are a necessary part of a La
Leche League meeting.
