discussion, such as why
there seem to be so many
stumbling blocks, par-
ticularly in the form of ad-
verse weather conditions,
when a man feels he is in
partnership with Sod to feed
His people. Another good
point was the conflict a
farmer feels between a
moral responsibility to
produce as much as possible
to feed the hungry df the
world, and the ecological
damage done to rivers' and
beneficial soil insects and
worms by the use of fer-
tilizers and other chemicals.
Next Sunday we celebrate
the 200th anniversary of the
founding of Sunday schools.

children. The Boy Scout
leader will present Religion
in Life badges to the Varna
boys who took this course
with Rev. Brown.
If any readers of this
column know of Varna area
people who have recently
graduated trom college or

employment, I would ap-
preciate a call; as many
readers are interested in

Safe ' Boating Week runs
from July I to July ? this
year and Ontario Provincial
Police Commissioner H.H.
Graham is asking , Ontario
citizens to take a hard look at •
their boating habits.
The-- OPP takes safe
boating seriously-=- The
provincial. police has a fleet
of more than 80 boats
patrolling the province's
lakes and rivers. Boats have
to be well maintained and
their , crews must be well,
trained.
Although the police crew
spend. more time on the
water then the average
recreational boater, they
face the same hazards. Any
boater must learn the rules
of _the- road and those
elementary safety practices
which can mean the dif-
ference between life and
death. . .
While some of the marine
officer's training will relate
directly to law enforceMent,
they are also instructed on
items like fire precautions,
man -overboard procedures.
and boat handling, which
should be at any boater's
fingertips.
