Students graduate Twenty-nine grade 8 pupils from St. Boniface school held their graduation on Wed- nesday evening, beginning with Mass at 2:30 followed by a reception for them and their families in the gym. Gary Geoffrey of Hanmer Ontario (near Sudbury) spent a few days this past week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Geoffrey. Major and Mrs. Ralph Joyce of San Juan Puerto Rico and Mrs. Helen Joyce of Lorain Ohio spent several days visiting with cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Aurban Pfile, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Greb and relatives in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Forrester and Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Paul Duchariie spent the weekend at their cottage up north. Congratulations to Randy and Marlene Dietrich (nee Glandville) • who were married on Friday evening at St. Boniface Church. Reception followed in Exeter. The couple are living in Zurich. Mrs. Barbara Teneyck of Kitchener spent the weekend with her brother and his wife, Henry and Annie Becker and visited with other relatives in the area. Anthony and Kathy Ducharme of Windsor spent last week with Jerry and, Irene Flanagan at Drysdale . along with daughter Edna Ducharme of London who was home recuperating from a recent operation. Our sympathy is extended to the relatives of the late Maurice Finkbeiner of Belmore (formerly Zurich) who passed away on June 19. Expecially to his wife Dorothy and son Robert. A good time was had by all on Saturday. Members of the "Has Beans" hockey team and their wives (40 all together) who had a picnic and pool party at the home of Doug and Betty -Ann O'Brien. Congratulations to Ken and Dorothy Breakey who are celebrating their 37th wedding anniversary today (June 26th) And may we wish them many more years of health and happiness together! Arne Flaxbard and Ina Neeb enjoyed going a three day bus tour up north to Agawa Canyon. They crossed on the Chi- Cheemaun to Manitoulin Island, then onto Sault Ste. Marie wher they took in many sights of ,interest, as well as visiting with a sister in-law of Ina's. Gordon and Dot Hess and Mrs. Beatrice Geiger spent a couple of pleasant days last week in Milton at tJ a home of their son, Larry and Bev Hess and little Virginia. Mrs. Anne Turkheim is happy to be a great- grandmother to a set of twin granddaughters who were born last Wednesday to Mr. and Mrs. Martin Smyth (nee Batstone), of Richmond Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bechler called on Mr. and .Mrs. Seth Amanns on Saturday bringing along a birthday cake for Seth who celebrated his 91st year on Monday! The St. Peter's Lutheran youth are holding a car wash at the Zurich fire hall on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. The price is $2.00 for car exterior and $4.00 for interior and exterior. Several former school students of Mrs. McKeever's gathered together for a retirement party in her horror on Saturday in Mt. Carmel. (Intended for last week) Celebrate birthdays Last Wednesday the June birthday party was held at the Maple Woods apartments. Those celebrating were Mr. Joe Boland, Mrs. Meryle Corriveau, Mrs. Eckstein and Mrs. Jantzi. Disappointed over playground On behalf of some mothers, I would like to say how disappointed we are that there will not be a summer playground for the children this year. As I know that it was looked forward to by many. It's too bad that there is not some kind of solution to their problem of being too late for the grant. Travel to Milton Eight ladies from the Zurich Women's Institute were among a bus full from eight othe branches of South Huron o went on a trip to Milto on Monday. They tour through the Agriculture Museum and a children's institution for the handicapped in hearing. They enjoyed going to Rockton to see the live animals at the Africian Lion Safari. And stopped on the way home for supper at the Ponderosa in Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Geoffrey, Zurich Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bedard and Julie along with Mrs. Mary Romaniszyn all of Detroit motored to Toronto on Saturday to help FatherDick Bedard celebrate his 64th birthday with a partyheld at the home of Jim and Mary - Anne Vanos. Brian and Sandy Geoffrey of Detroit, Michigan spent Father's Day with his parents, " Clarence and Beattie Geoffrey and Kevin. Congratulations to Debbie and Greg Thiel (nee Oesch) who were married on Saturday at the United Church with the reception held in Dashwood. They are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thiel and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oesch both of Zurich. The couple will be living in Stratford. Joe and Debbie Milli have recently taken up residence at their new home on Goshen St. North (formerly owned by Clarence Farwell) where she will continue her beauty shop. A two day bus trip was enjoyed by all on Saturday and Sunday, to Dearborn Michigan where they went to Greenfield Village and the enry Ford Museum. Mrs. Irene Brisson is happy to announce the arrival of her 6th great- grandchild, Little Rebecca Loren Candela who was born on Sunday to Larry and Patrica Candela of Canton, Michigan, their second child. A family get-together was held at the home of Willy and Martha Overholt on Sunday celebrating Father's Day and two birthdays of cousins. Pam and Kim Jeffrey were both two years old. Little Bradley Stephen Masse, son of Richard and Karen Masse RR 2 Zurich was baptized on Sunday at St. Boniface Church by Father Mooney.The god- parents were . David and Marilyn Durand. Mr. and Mrs. Jules Corriveau of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan spent a few days this past week with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Corriveau. Saturday visitors were Ted and Sarah Robson of Wind- sor, who attended the Ducharme and Restemayer wedding (her niece). Albert and Margaret Visscher of RR 2 Kippen attended the graduation of their daughter Landa on Saturday at Alma College in St. Thomas who received an -award for top honours in the art course. Mr. John Vanden Boomen along with :daughters, Mary - Joe and Nia from Holland are presently spending three weeks with his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Vanden Boomen RR 2 Hensall. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Corriveau were; Chester and Lucella and Brenda Louck's, Leo Paul Corriveau and a friend all from London. Also spending time on Monday with their parents were, Rebecca and Ray Geromette and Carol from St. Clair shore Michigan. Father's Day guests with Bill and Eleanor Lawrence were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hennessy of Kitchener, Howard Lawrence and son Sean. - daughter Sharon Gordier both of .
