UCW exchange gifts

Elimville
The Elimville United
Church Women met Monday
afternoon at the church with
a good attendance. President
Mrs. Philip Johns opened the
meeting with a prayer,
followed by the Lord's
Prayer.
The roll call. was an ex-
change of a gift not over one
dollar. The minutes were
read and adopted. A donation
was made to the manse
board.
The president read the
history of the Elimville
United Church Women that
had been prepared this past
summer. The executive
meeting and quilting days will
be announced at a later date.
It was decided to join with
the Exeter Churches for
World Day of Prayer. Mrs.
Johns wished everyone
Seasons Greetings.
It was announced that Fri-
day, January 4 at 8 p.m: at
Zion Church Mr. and Mrs.
Marcy Ninomkya will be
guest speakers.
Mrs. John Batten opened
the program with the reading
"The Guest at the Inn." Mrs.
Marjorie Dykeman led in
prayer.
A dialogue "The Spirit of
Christmas" was read with
Mrs. Batten, Mrs. Johns,
Mrs. Ina Skinner, Mrs. Emer-
son Penhale and Mrs. Floyd
Cooper taking part. Two
Christmas hymns were also
sung at this time.
Mrs. Lorne Elford received
the offering and Mrs. Ina
Johns led in prayer. Mrs. Don
Kerslake sang a solo and ac-
companied herself on the
piano. Mrs. Batten closed the
meeting with the Benediction.
A social time followed.
The White Gift Church Ser-
vice was held Sunday morn-
ing with the Sunday School in
charge.
Institute
The Elimville Women's In-
stitute met Wednesday after-
noon at the Elimville hall. The
president Mrs. Ron Fletcher
read a poem "Christmas -
everyone joined in the ()de
and Mary Stewart Collect.
The roll call "A Christmas
Verse" was answered by the
members.
Mrs. Elson Lynn took over
for the program committee.
Mrs. Delmer Skinner and
Mrs. Leone Brock, who were
unable to be there. Everyone
joined in singing "Silent
Night" and "0 Come, All Ye
Faithful." Miss Ruth Skinner
read a poem "A Legend from
the Hills."
Mrs. Lynn introduced the
guest speaker Mrs. George
Sereda who demonstrated
Christmas decorations she
has made - quite easy and
lovely! Mrs. Philip Johns
thanked Mrs! Sereda. Mrs.
Lynn gave a couple of short
readings and everyone joined
in singing "Jingle Bells"
Mrs. Fletcher took over for
the business meeting. It was
decided each individual would
work on crafts for the Erlin
Lee Home and bring the items
to the April meeting.
It was decided to send one
registration for the 1985 con-
vention to be held in London
at University of Western
Ontario.
The District Annual to be
held in May was discussed_
Miss Ruth Skinner gave the
Jlospital report.
The Institute will be respon-
sible for planning the Exeter
Fair list for the Womens' In-
stitute display.
The January meeting will
be held at Elimville church. A
donation was made to the
Home Day ('entre for the
Home Bound. Lunch and a
social time brought the
meeting to a close.
Christ inas Concert
A large number attended
the Sunday School Christmas
Concert Wednesday evening.
Santa Claus arrived at the
end of the program, much to
the delight of each and
everyone. All renorted a good
time.
Personals
Saturday evening the
Thames Road-Elimville
Manse Committee catered to
the Usborne township ban-
quet at Kirkton-Woodham
Community Centre. Atten-
ding from this area were Mr.
and Mrs. John Batten, Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Kerslake,
Mr. and Mrs. I)on Kerslake,
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Skinner,
Mrs- Millie Fulton and Mr.
and Mrs. Flovd►Cooper.

Christmas concert at Thames
Road, Sunday evening.
The Thames Road-
Elimville Young People were
out carol singing late Sunday
afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wilkin-

Wheatley area on the
weekend. They celebrated
Jim's parents' 40th wedding
anniversary.
Mrs. I)an Smith and baby
Courtney returned home from
hospital, Friday.
