T -A photo Cromarty WMS elects officers By MRS. t10•URT LAING Cromarty The December meeting of Cromarty Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at the home of Betty Dow with all members and two visitors answering the roll call with a verse from a Christmas card. Betty Dow led the devotions assisted by Lila McKaig, Agnes Lamond, Aileen Knight, Muriel Scott and Dorothy Miller. Christmas carols were sung accompanied by Muriel Scott on the autoharp. A meditation with a Christmas message was given by Lillian Douglas. Meetings in January, February, and March will be held on the first Wednesday of each month. Agnes Lamond reported 14 cards sent and 12 visits made to the sick and shut-ins. Dorothy Miller presided for the business of the annual meeting. The slate of officers for 1985 is as follows: past president, Dorothy Miller; president , Lillian Douglas; vice- president, Betty Dow; secretary, Muriel Scott; assistant secretary, Edna Stoneman; treasurer, Lila McKaig; assistant treasurer, Dorothy Miller. Friendship and Service and Literature Sec., Agnes La - mond; associate members - Dorothy Miller; Glad Tidings sec., Edna Stoneman; nominating comm., Betty Dow and Agnes Lamond; auditors- Dorothy Miller and Muriel Scott. Following the business, everyone undertook the mak- ing of a Christmas butterfly ornament under the direction of Lillian Douglas. The meeting closed with prayer followed by refreshments and a social hour. Personals The Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted the communion service in Cromarty Presbyterian church on Sun- day afternoon, assisted by elders Jean Carey, Philip James, John Scott, Craig Kerslake and Paul Miller. The church was beautifully decorated with evergreen boughs, candles, and bells as well as the Christmas tree. The choir sang a Christmas anthem with Mary F, Dow at the organ. With their pianist Carol Ann Scott at the organ, Cromar- ty Sunday School presented a musical pageant, The Best Christmas Gifts, at the annual White Gift Service on Sunday afternoon. Hannah Miller was nar- rator for the pageant in which the following pupils took part: Cain Templeman, Trevor Elliott, Adam Miller, Jonathan, Nicholas and Jef- frey Collings as shepherds: Lisa Pullman, Becky Marlyn, and Carrah 'Templeman as angels; Steven Pullman, Christopher Scott and Danny Elliott as the Wise Men; Lari- Jo Gardiner, Christena Miller, Julie Martyr and Sharla Freesktone as Christmas Bells; Sherri and Sarah Elliott, Lisa and Leanne Gardiner, Michelle Martyr and '1'aunya Van Allen as choir members. Also assisting with the carol singing were senior choir memberls, Muriel Scott. Margaret Miller, Isabel Kerslake and Nancy Kraemer. Paul Parsons received a bad Areak in his wrist when he fell off the roof of a shed at his home. The bones were set at University Hospital, Len- non, and he was to have a cast applied on Tuesday of this week. Dressing room assistants were teachers Beverley .Templeman, Eva Laing, Ed- na Stoneman, Mary Elliott and Alice Gardiner, also Cathy Elliott, S.S. treasurer. The offering was received by Betty Anrl Miller and Cathy Hulley. Personals Congratulations to Maryand Lorne Elliott who celebrated their 45th wedding anniver- sary, Sunday. Mrs. Elliott was the former Mary Jeanette Hamilton of Cromarty. Sorry to report that Calvin Christie is a patient in St. Marys hospital following a heart attack.
