Parents object to
The use of classrooms by up
to three grades at three
Catholic schools in Huron -
Perth will be investigated'by
the separate school board.
The approval to investigate
was made by the Huron -Perth
Roman Catholic Separate
School Board after it receiv-
ed 17 letters from parents
whose children attend St.
Joseph's Catholic school in
Kingsbridge.
The parents were speaking
against having three grades
put into one classroom. At the
Kingsbridge, school
Kindergarten and grade 1
students are in the same

centre board of management
received some assistance
from Exeter council this week
when the latter agreed to
cover all the board's bills un-

would improve the board's
cash flow system when they
are received.

grade 4, 5 and 6 students
share one classroom and so
do grades 7 and 8. There are
five classrooms in the rural
school but only four are used
by the regular classes.
There is also -triple grading
at Ecole Ste. Marie and St.
Columban separate school.
Director of education
William Eckert said the
board's accommodation
review committee would look
at the concerns of the parents.
"It's a school accommoda-
tion organization problem and
that's why it has been refer-
red to that committee," said
Eckert.
Although not necessarily
the same trustlees, it was the
board's accommodation
review committee or more
commonly known as the BAR
committee that looked at the
possibility of closing Ecole
Ste. Marie or consolidating
schools in Stratford.
The board members on the
committee are Vincent McIn-
nes of Wingham, Dave
Durand of St. Joseph's, Ron
Marcy of Stratford, Ron Mur-
ray of RR 1, Dublin and Ernie
Famine relief
The sum of $2,260 was col-
lected last week from the
boxes set up in Exeter bank-
ing institutions for donations
to Ethiopian Famine Relief.
When this is matched three to
one by the federal govern-
ment, over 89,000 in food aid
will be going to Africa
through the Canadian
Foodgrains Bank.
The boxes are still in place
for more donations.

building permits in Exeter
will tall short,.,of the 1983 total.
Permits issued in
November amounted to
$35,748.44 and that brought
the current year's total to
82,079,617.24. The 1983 figure
was 82,221,698.50.
Included in last month's
permits were 13 residential
renovations and additions at
$28,958, one institutional for
$4,590 and one carport for
82,200.
There were five permanent
signs approved to bring the
1984 total to 25 and there were
four temporary signs raising
the total to 153.
