Santa Cl�us Parade
Dont forget the Santa Claus
parade is on Saturday,
December 15 beginning at 1
p.m. followed by movies and
treats for all the young people
at the Zurich Community
Centre at 2:00 o.m
Zurich WI
Sixteen W.I. members and
10 guests had an enjoyable
afternoon at the hotel for their
December meeting. Follow-
ing a delicious turkey dinner
and a short business meeting
the afternoon was spent in
readings, carols and bingo.
The following prizes were
awarded: door prize, Dorothy
Breakey and Belle Merner;
highest heels, Frieda Moore
and Agnes Regier; blacicslip,
Margaret Kalfleisch; gold in
teeth, Josephine Dietrich.
Mildred Klopp and Marie
Thiel; longest earrings, Ina
Neeb, smallest waistline,
Agnes Regier, closest birth-
day, Josephine Dietrich and
Mildred Klopp; long
underwear, Gertie
Fleischauer.

Isi thanked the ladies for
itself' help and support in the
past year. A delicious festive
lunch was served.
Afterwards 23 members
met in the Board room. It was
reported by Mary Gingerich
that a profit of $815.10 was
made at the bazaar and bake
sale in November ( which in-
cluded two generous
donations) .
Three sympathy and three
birthday cards Were sent out.
The auxiliary now have
"Cake Craft" books on sale
for $3.00 each, and can be pur-
chased either at the Rest
Home, Lorraine's Crafts in
town or out at Ferguson
Apiaries, RR 2 Hensall.
A total of the Zehr's tapes
has been made up-to-date; it
comes to $416.20.
A few more memberships
were paid up with 41 now on
the roll call. A nice letter was
read from Mr. Risi in ap-
preciation for the work and
time we give to the home and
the residents. •

Zurich Lions
Seventeen members .and
four guests attended the Lions
club meeting on November
19. Inter -club visits were
made to Bayfield, Exeter and
Huron Park.
A profit of $2,300. was made
at their recent stag. A motion
was made to send $125.00 to
the Huron County Christmas
Bureau and $400.00 to the 40th
anniversary committee. The
money for the Ronald
McDonald bricks (at $5.00
each) were to be handed in.
The Zurich Lions club are
fourth in Governors Efficien-
cy contest with 930 points. At
their meeting on December 3,
guest speaker was Lion Dave
Heller from Stratford. with
four guests coming from
Woodstock.

Golden Agers
The Golden Agers are
reminded that their
Christmas dinner will be held
this Friday, December 14 at
the Town and Country Bowl-
ing Lanes at 5:30 p.m. follow-
ed by an evening of playing
cards or bowling.
St. Boniface CWL
The St. Boniface CWL
Christmas meeting was held
in the form of a Mother and
daughter potluck supper on
Tuesday evening December
11 at 6:30 p.m. with many
delicious dishes brought in by
the ladies.

Monday evening, the
movies "Christmas in Ger-
many" and "Ride the Gentle
Breeze" were shown, follow-
ed by refreshments.
On Tuesday evening the
Ladies Auxiliary held their
annual Christmas party for
the residents. A muscial pro-
gram was provided by Dave
and Beth Prouty and
daughters Krista and Sally,
also Pearl Ann Martin and
daughters, Roxanne, Tracy
and Heidi. Santa Claus arriv-
ed and presented each resi-
dent with a gift which was
followed by a delicious lunch.
Rev. Stan MacDonald ad-
ministered the sacrament of
communion to all members
and adherents of the United
Church on Thursday morning
in the chapel. Father Mooney
celebrated mass in the chapel
on Thursday afternoon for all
Roman Catholic residents
and visitors.
On Wednesday and Friday
mornings, residents enjoyed
cookie baking in the Craft
room under the direction of
Cathy Shantz. The men are
also involved in shuffleboard

The annual K of C
Christmas party for the
children was held on Sunday
afternoon at their hall in St.
Columbian with the singing of
Christmas carols and Santa
giving treats to the kids.
La Porte party
The LaPorte family
Christmas party was held in
London on Sunday December
9 for 87 relatives from various
places attending, held at St.
Andrew's parish hall. The day
was spent visiting and playing
cards. All enjoyed a delicious
smorgasbord supper.
A big surprise was also had

on Wednesday mornings, and
most afternoons they test
their skills in crokinole
competition.
On Thursday evening,
despite the cold, snowy
weather, the December birth-
day party was sponsored by
the U.C.W. of Zurich United
Church. The program began
with piano and organ music
played by Philippa Steckle
and Beatrice Rader.
Residents joined in singing
Christmas carols. The Advent
candles were lit by Gwyn
Whilsmith, Mary Jacobe and
Helen Consitt.
Heather Consitt and Justin
Scott sang a very nice duet.
Gwen Whilsmith and Flo
Murray, dressed in
Christmas costume, sang "All
I Want for Christmas is My
Two Front Teeth", which
caused considerable
merriment.
Following the program, bir-
thday gifts were presented to
Charles Fowler, Milverna
Geiger and Erma Gascho, the
December celebrants- A dain-
ty lunch concluded the
program.
Bingo was played on Friday
evening followed by
refreshments.
OnSunday afternoon,
members of the Conservative
Mennonite church sang for
the residents. -
The Sunday evening chapel
service was conducted by
Rev. Charles Henderson,
retired Presbyterianminister
of Exeter.

The family of Juliette
Denomme got together on
Sunday, December 9 to
celebrate Christmas. An
afternoon of fun and games
was had at Juliettes home
