Christmas meeting for
Dashwood Institute

Dashwood Women's In-
stitute held their Christmas
meeting Tuesday, December
4 with the executive in
charge. Each member was to
bring their husband or a
friend. Slips with the name of
a Christmas Carol on were
matched with the place one
sat. President Mrs. Emil
Becker opened the meeting
by placing the letters
Christmas Morn in a row with
appropriate verses. Nineteen
members and six visitors
were present.
Mrs. Harvey Bierling was
in charge of Christmas Carols
accompanied by Mrs. Mervyn
Tieman. Mrs. Earl Keller
read the Christmas story.
Mrs. Eben Weigand read
"Over the Hills at Dawning".
Bunco was played. Several
prizes were handed out: to the
one who made their
Christmas cake the earliest,
Mary Rader; the lady with
the deepest lace on her slip,
Aldene Wolfe; birthday in
November (man) Sheldon
Wein; newest corsage, Gloria
Beierling. Mrs. Valentine

Bishop visits Ckindeboye

Rev. Derwyn Jones, Bishop
of Huron, was at St. James
Anglican Church, Clandeboye
on Sunday efternoon, for a
visit and social hour with the
congregation. There was no
Confirmation this year.
The U.C.W. of Clandeboye
United Church met at the
home of Gwen Lynn, on Tues-
day. Betty Coughlin
presented a beautiful worship
service portraying the
Christmas story. Carols were
sung.
During the business, dona-
tions were given to the
Women's Community House
for Battered Wives, Remem-
brances and cards for the
shut-ins, and gifts were given
to the Girls Teen Home in
London. The Compassion Jar
donations for all the con-
gregation are to be turned in
this month.
The hostess served lunch
and a social time was enjoyed
by all.

Many people enjoyed the
1950-51 Lucan Cyclone hockey
team reunion held Sunday
afternoon at the Leprechaun
Hall at the Lucan Communi-
ty ('entre in connection with
the Lucan ('up Ilockey Tour-
nament. Guests from
Clandeboye area were
Wilmer and Mary Scott, Jean
and Pal Hodgins.
Over 50 oldtimers and their
wives attended so needless to
say a lot of reminiscing was
done Old pictures and
newspaper clippings.were on
display of both hockey and
hall clubs which drew a lot of
interest.
Oldtimers came from
Guelph. Sarnia, Belle River,
London, Hens/ill Exeter,
Thorndale, Ailsa Craig. as
well as many still living in the
Lucan area
The oldtimers were in-
troduced by Bob Murray with
tribute paid to deceased
players, Doug Lucas and Art
Hodgins, manager and spon-
sor, Harvey Langford and
trainer George Ward.
Much credit goes to Norm
Hardy for tracking down the
oldtimers and many thanks to
the Lucan Cup committee for
their hospitality.
