Dear Sir,
The recent decision by the
Province of Ontario to appeal
the acquittalof Mr. Morgen-
taler on charge of conspiracy
to procure an abortion is a re-
affirmation of the basic
building block of all society -
respect for the law of the land.
Throughout history, society
has always condemned those
individuals who take the law
into their own hands - and
regardless of our sentiments
respecting the matter of abor-
tion, all sides must honour
this basic duty - respee` for
the law.
For myself, I am grafi' ed
to see Mr. McMurtry take t le
necessary step of appealling
the recent court/jury acquit-
tal of Mr. Morgentaler.
It is interesting to note that
Secretary of State, George
Schultz, commedling on the
recent Tehran highjacking, in
which innocent citizens were
killed, said that terrorism is
a threat to society's basic
foundation - respect for the
law of civilization. Strong
repressive measures, said he,
must be taken to curb ter-
rorism, even if innocent
civilians are hurt in the
process.
The parallels to the
IMorgenta ler case are in-
teresting. In this case, inno-
cent citizens are also cold-
bloodedly being killed - all to
prove a point - women have
control over their own bodies.
We needn't look to Tehran for
terrorism, we have it right
here at home.

Friday evening.
During the two intermis-

carols were sung.
Mrs. Janet Rose, president
of the Centre, welcomed all
dlence with singing which
was greatly enjoyed.
The meal was catered to by
Mrs. Young.

Santa parades
Ideal winter weather
prevailed Saturday for the an-
nual Santa parade.
The judges had a real task
on their hands, choosing win-
ners from a goodly number of
floats, however, final deci-
sions were made.
Prize winners were the
Mclntyre's from Carlisle with
the float of the First
Christmas, the Parkhill Fair
Board float and the McAlpine
and McFadden children with
their float.
Special congratulations to
the winners, and congratula-
tions to those who took part.
A good job done by all. The
Sea Cadet band of London
was in attendance.
Santa arrived giving
treats to the young fry.

Personals
From the kindness of
generous people here in town
and the surrounding area, the
total of 62,435. was turned in
to the Bible Society. It is
reported that this amount is a"
thousand dollars more than
last year's givings. Again a
job well done.
